Blue is all laid down.
This is it, the last of the painting.
I will let this set up for a few hours then I will remove the stencil.
Any glue will get cleaned on Monday as to let this all set up good. The longer it cures the easier it is to clean.
Not much I can do today bet nurse the wing and fuselage.
I need to clean the fuselage and make it ready for the dry ink transfers.
I will do some tests first as I have two extra flags. I was thinking of putting one on the inside of one of the cowl doors....as a test.
Then I will do some nomenclatures.
Once this is all done then do final install of any reaming gear, then she gets a good turtle waxing before her trip to the field later in the week. Maybe I will start messing with my telemetry sensors today.
If I can get that all setup then I am home free as far as electronics.

Poped the cork on the champagne
All painting is officially completed.
The roundels on the wing came out great....finally something worked
No white was showing and just a tinny bit of bleed threw at the stitching.
I could see that this would bleed as I could not get the vinyl to sit down around the stitching.
All in all they are great and once it cures a couple of days I will clean it with acetone.
The color is not traditional as the red is off and the blue is darker, but that's fine.
The fuselage roundels came out great too.
nice and crisp, ready for nomenclatures.

So I have been working on the wing all day.

Ailerons are hooked up and servos are in.
Been pulling wires all afternoon, 5 in the left wing and three in the right wing
My wing tip nav light cases came today....thanks Chad
I got a two pack of green and red, one set for the chippie, and one set for Angie.
I will work on the lights next.

Tony, I have a hard time believing your just learning to paint. Looks as if you've been doing it for years. You should be quite proud of what you've done. Like Leroy said, you overcame some serious obsticals without ever once loosing your cool, (well, at least not that you let us see.) You learned a lot, as we learned a lot with you. thanks for taking the time to share it with us. Cant wait to see it final assembled and see the maiden video. (if there is to be one. hopefully.)

Thanks Steve, this has been a journey. Yes this is my first glassed, detailed and painted kit, and only my 6th kit build. I have learned so much and Angie will be the benefactor to that. I know how much paint it takes to paint, and how to use the gun and airbrush. I know what gaps to leave on control surfaces, hatches and other parts after glass and paint. How to do multi layered stencils, and overlay colors. 4 months in the making and she is almost ready to fly. I hope to get a video. I will have in cockpit video for sure, but it will be nice to have ground video too.
Going flying today so taking a break today. Got to sharpen my thumbs!

Tony,
Just FYI, on the 3d printed parts usually 2-3 heavy coats of primer with just a tad of sanding between will smooth out the surface and have it ready for paint. Headed out for the last day of Warbirds Over the Rockies now. Your Chippie and/or Thunderbolt would have been very welcome additions to the show!

Trying to figure out and understand clearly.

The word "printed" is, I think, confusing to me.
I am not crticizing . . . just trying to understand what is being referred to and the 2-3 heavy coats of prime would be to increase the thickness of the paint above the background finish upon which the printing is being done.
Sorry if I am "dumb" _ _ _ I was born that way _ _ _

I assume ( guess ) that 3d printed parts refers to such things as the name ( writings ) of the registration and other decors that on full size airplanes would have a thickness of 2 or more paint layers. That could be 0.002" to perhaps 0.005" . Same thickness would be on a reduced size model.
The word "printed" is, I think, confusing to me.

As with most things the user and equipment will determine the out come when it comes to a paint job especially over details. Does that help in any way to answer your question.

On the bench today, assembly, dry ink transfers, more assembly, detailing, and anything I can get done today. My plan is to complete the fuselage assembly today and then do the wing tomorrow with a prelim balancing.

Mornings progress.
So I got all the gear in and setup, pretty much that is.
I haven't setup all the telemetry but it is connected.
I started at the front and I am working my way back
Cowl is done, doors are on, everything tied down.
The cowl doors fit good and this was the first time I have had them all the way on.
The muffler extensions are on and ready to firer.
I moved the fuel fill and de-fill line to the back opening of the cowl.
Opening the door every time would become a pain.
stab center section is in.
Just got the canopy to install then I can start with the dry ink transfers, nomenclatures and the flag.
That will finish up the fuselage
