I want to see what it does for landing and taking off, also I fly float planes off my pond, I don't like the flap drag on the take off run going to see what this does for that.

My problem is I have too many partially completed airplanes, 3 or 4 kits, and 3 laser cut short kits to get built. I have a set of plans a plastic for the Uravitch Cessna 195 which I want to purchase the short kit to build it. Then I am eying a DR1 kit. Then there are all the bits, pieces, and supplies I need to build the projects I got or have committed to purchase. I need a SR kit like a hole in the head!

Great progress Tom. Can't wait to see how it slices through the sky!
I own only one plane, which is still in the box (but not for long!) This is my building supervisor, Spakles. She was found on the street (the canine version of a lady of the night I suspect!), took her in, and she's been a terrific companion for about a year now. We plan to start our build in a few days.

That's a great pic of Sparkles !
I don't let the current kit stock bother me too much. I know that they are there if I want top build them. If I want to build something else, so be it.
I have a 15 year old Focke Wulf kit. I've had this Kadet kit for just a few weeks.. It's where my current interest lies, so I'm building it. LOL
Speaking of building, today was productive.
I started by sheeting the bottom center section of the wing. Thhis allowed me to start working on the front wing mounts. I used the kit supplied "eyebrow" and made a pattern from it. I laminated some ply, creating a 1/4" half moon. This piece was glued to the forward cabin top, in an upright position A piece of 1/8" ply was made to conform around the deck sheeting and the half moon. This ties in the cabin 1/4" uprights and the half moon..
While this was drying, I sheeted the bottom leading edge of the wing.

FlyerInOKC,
Well, it is halloween after all.....but the REAL stink eye didn't come until the costume came off! (and I miraculously captured the shot). She did NOT like the cutesie girl-girl costume. At right around 10 pounds, she's not too far off from being the actual pilot of my Kadet!
Happy Halloween to all!

Another half moon was cut, this time with 5/16" ply. A section of the leading edge center section was removed, and the half moon was installed.
The wing was then set in place, and squared up. The rear wing bolt holes were then drilled. Next, holes for the wing dowels were drilled through the fuselage and wing mounted half moon.
Dowels were glued into the leading edge and the wing mounting is complete !
Still possessing a bit of energy, I sheeted the top leading edge and then installed a 1"X1/2" strip of balsa to the front of the wing.
This brings us up to date.

Nice and strong Tom. No doubt that your version of the Kadet Sport will NOT have the same fate as your late and great ARF Sport....no matter how wide open and white-thumbed you are on the gimbals. Looks fantastic!!!

I'm sure that I have over compensated, but I was sick when I dumb thumbed my ARF. Watching that wing flutter to the ground was not a pleasant sight.

Old guys and dogs.
Gees you're killing me with the dog pictures. I was just going to watch and learn, I'm starting my Sr soon, if my buddy Lucy stops asking for so many Bark & Rides.
On your Sr, everything looks great.....except that flat wing. The flat wing kind of makes it look like a Ugly Stick, I haven't decided yet if I'm going to put ailerons in it, but if I do I'll keep at least half the dihedral.

Cats, dogs, fish. We have, or have had them all. They're all good.
The flat wing looks a bit strange, I admit. I have a couple ideas on how to camoflage it. We'll see if they do the trick.
My wife made me pick up leaves, and the dog took me for a walk, so I decided to take the day off, from model building.
I should have some progress to report, late tomorrow.

Been trying to decide whether to build the kadet or telemaster. I think the new V2 telemaster takes all the fun out of building but the kadet requires too many mods. I like the airfoil tail, flaps, ailerons, and tail dragger of the ST. But I also like the stick build of the kadet. What to do what to do?
Right now I'm going to follow y'all and see how this turns out. This will be my 5th kit, plus one build from plans. Really interested in the aileron mods!

That was exactly my dilemma, so I went on eBay and bought a 8' Telemaster V1 for $170 last spring, I'm going to make it a candy bomber. I also picked up my Sr. kit which will be my grandson's trainer.

Both are good flyers, but I prefer the Kadet Senior's construction methods.
Mods take imagination, but are not difficult.
I hope to get to the ailerons this week. I'll show how I go about it. Maybe it will relieve some anxieties.

Yeah, I'll take one of those!!
Hey Rich! Good hearing from ya. I've been following this whole thing rather closely, and taking notes. I'm VERY interested to see the first flight reports with that zero-dihedral wing, but I'm pretty sure she's gonna be a BEAST, and a total joy to fly.
box car
Will I could not stand it any longer I put my order in today. I will be doing most of what Tom has done. I will square off the wing tips and add flaps per say but not real flaps, they will be tied into the elevator control. Elevator up flaps go down, elevator down flaps go up.

What you're describing is the control-line aerobatic set-up. My ancient CG Sr. Falcon has that feature, but it's through the radio system - I can turn it on or turn it off with a flick of the switch. I would highly suggest doing it that way - I've tried landing with the switch turned on, it's not easy.
Tom, it was also mentioned some time back but I didn't see it go anywhere - - flaps. I understand about the "longish" ailerons, but you'd still have 3 bays available for flaps. While flaps are definitely not needed on a Kadet for most guys, I DID see a couple pics of one that was being built with 4-bay flaps. Kinda interesting:
Then, y'go with Tony's idea of leading edge slats (but moveable, interlinked with the flaps) and you've probably got a plane that you can park in the air.
Just something to stir the pot, LOL

The work has started on the ailerons.
It may surprise some that I started with the wingtips.
When I cut the ailerons free from the wing, the last rib is left for the wingtip. It would be a weak structure without the support of the tips.
Using my bandsaw, I cut the wingtip from the printed balsa sheet. Per plans, I made the wing tip dihedral guage and used it to get the angle for the tips.
The tips were glued on, and then solidified by adding sub spars. Sheeting was then added.
The leading edge was trimmed to length, and the tips were rough sanded.

Hey Tom i was lucky enough to meet Hazel Sig at a couple of our funflys at my old club here in IL long ago . She was a pleasure to chat with.and Sig had just came out with their clipped wing cub kit and she was giving one out free at one of our 1/4 scale meets. I was flying a 1/3 scale byron pitts those days to keep me on my toes :-) joe

When I was a kid living in Iowa, I met Maxey Hester and Claude McCulloch at a control line contest. I'll never forget how they took the time to talk to a 13 year old kid.
Here is how I built the actual aileron, today.
I started by notching the aileron ribs to accept a 1/4X1/4 balsa spar. I installed the spar, and then cut the aileron free from the wing.
