Thanks, Tom !

We'll have to wait until next Spring to find out how she flies. For me, at least, the flying season is over. Snow is in the forecast. I prefer my warm shop to Winter cold. LOL

Tom, did you use 1/16" or 3/32" for leading edge sheeting and cap strips on the wing?

Joe, I used 1/16" on the leading edge. The cap strips were 3/32 ans I sanded them down to match.

When I had a bike, in Iowa, I kept it ready to ride in case there was a nice day. The roads were usually ice and snow free.

Up here, the roads are snow covered. Bike riding isn't a good idea. I sold my Goldwing years ago, so I don't worry about it, anymore.

The shop eats my time, now. On weekends, my wife joins me.

She had today off, and watched me hinge the Kadet's ailerons. I was glad to get that task out of the way.

I also made the aileron servo mounts.

On my Senior Sport ARf, the weak spot in the wing was on a diagonal line from the end of the wing tube, to the corner of the aileron bay.

I had already reinforced the spar, but I have now reinfrced the corner of the aileron bay. Triangle stock was added to strengthen this area.

Hey Tom, I'm sure you've told it before but - in my old age I simply don't remember - what's the story behind that cartoon wood? Is it available generally or just in your local area?

Neither. LOL

Cartoon wood was scrap material from the place that I used to work. I use it in lieu of lite ply.

It was printed ply ( drawer bottoms). The printing was for paint by numer Christmas Tree ornaments, and had to be registered on each side. The ornaments were then die cut, and packaged for the consumer, all with the paint.

If the registry was off, the wood was scrap. I was offered a pallet of scrap. I didn't take it all, but I got enough for a lifetime. LOL

It's seem here, built into my Ryan Brougham.

I also ended up with a 15 year supply of clear plastic. I use it for windows, etc.

It's in the Ryan, pictured above.

I scored a 6x4 foot roll of plastic that has been making windows and windshields for many years. When I rebuilt my SR that is what I used.

That's my guess at how long the plastic will last before it yellows. LOL

I have about 10 sheets left. I use the plastic when making templates, too.

I've never used Ultra Coat, until now. I like it !

It's too bad that I ran out.

Bummer! Do they identify dye lots so you can get and exact match? Looks great, BTW... not a part of my build that I'm really looking forward to.

Looks great Tom and being a boss for a builder i have raided our cabinert company for birch ply and other goodies ,i get 3 inch wide by 3 inch long pieces of 3/4 inch thick steel cutoffs from my steel beam company and use them for weights while building and since they are cut with a giant true cutting machine they are 90 degree ends so pushed two together they hold up my wing ribs at 90 degrees while the glue dries . I always have to order a big bottle of tightbond glue with every trim load comming from my lumber yard :-) Found some tightbond instant glue yesterday and going to give it a try . I get 1/4 inch dow fanfold for my foam planes from my siding company and they use it for underneeth siding ,who says being a boss sucks. lol joe

Ya, Joe, I found that being the boss paid dividends. LOL Working at a craft oriented company helped, too. LOL

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

The color is Ultra Coat Dark yellow. I have enough left to cover the top of the stab. Although not pictured, the other aileron, the rudder, and the elevator, have been covered.

A friend gave me some red Monokote. I'll use it to cover the fin and the stab bottom.

My plan has been to use red graphics, and to paint the cowl and landing gear, red. The red MK will fit in nicely.

I hope to finish covering tomorrow. I still have to work on a windscreen.

It'll be a few weeks before I can order my graphics. I still have the radio installation to work on, while I wait.

I use Ultra Cote every chance I get. It tacks down really nice, the color doesn't come off the film if you have to re-position, the edges seal, its not as brittle after you shrink it, it has several shrink temps so you can shrink it a little or a lot and it works really well with a heat gun, I could go on and on. Just all around easier to use and you get a better quality finish I think. If it has a draw back it is that once activated you have to be careful not to let the sticky side touch another sticky side unless that is what you want to happen, cause it sticks!

I'm glad someone else is doing this. I'm going to put stringers on mine, but no one else has done it, I thought I must be missing something.

Since I usually build scale models, I tend to use Solartex. This product goes on so easily, I rarely used Monokote. I was hesitant to try Ultra, but I'm glad that I did !

I'll use it on future projects of this type.

It's an easy addition, but is seldom done, for some reason. I'm glad that I installed them, as I like the way the stringers look under the covering.
