Here are a few pics, showing the painted wheel pants and landing gear.

Note the difference in color. The landing gear was white, with no primer. The color is lighter and brighter.

I feel that the primed wheel pants are a closer match to the Econokote, so I primed the cowl.

The red on the Sr. brings it together, Tom. Can't wait to see what you come up with for graphics.

Is Terry's a Hosteler Tri-Pacer? *Really* nice covering job!

So now you're thinking about a Tri-Pacer? You're getting as bad as I am! (Wanna sell me your Fairchild kit? LOL!)

Posting this from Iowa City, Iowa. 12-d-d-d-degrees and w-w-w-windy. I think my boss is m-m-m-mad at me...

Hey Tom, EJ's right - that red is GREAT!! It really does bring the whole thing together. About the Tri-Pacer; I had to look twice to make sure it was a model. VERY!!!!! nice job!!!

Terry's Tri-Pacer was designed by a now deceased club member. It has a 60" wing span. It's covered in 21st Century Fabric. I used Lustrkote to spray the trim.

The trim paint on my Kadet is Ace brand, Banner Red. It isn't fuel proof, so I'll protect it with Minwax Polyurethane.

Iowa City ? Might be a fun place, after the Hawkeye's win last Saturday.

Thanks, Mike.

I painted the cowl and wheels today. After the paint sets for a few days, I'll shoot a coat or two of clear polyurethane over everything.

It's asnowin' and ablowin' outside. I cleared my drive, butit may have been a wasted effort. I'm glad that my wife's car has all wheel drive. She'll be able to get into the garage, no matter how deep the snow. LOL

And that's why I settled in Virginia and not Alaska (which was our #2 choice) when I retired from the Air Force. Of course the joke was on me anyway, ended up buying a snow blower to clear our 300' driveway nearly every winter. Sheesh!! Gotta admit, Havana actually sounds good when it's 10 degrees with blowing snow here.

The painted parts have been clear coated with Minwax Polyurethane.

I installed a remote glow, and a Dubro Fueler.

Non functional struts were fabricated.

The tank was plumbed and installed, along with the RX.

As it sits now, the model balances with no added weight.

All of this means is that the Kadet Senior Sport is completed ! Graphics will follow, but the model is ready to take to the air, as is.

Thanks to all who participated. I appreciate the advice and support. I hope to have a flight report in May. The snow is usually gone by then. LOL

When you're doing the graphics why not build some skis?

I does look really nice though.

Nice! All put together, and with the flat wing, gives it a nostalgic edge.

Floats are the preferred method for Winter flying up here. Our field becomes inaccessable though. I'm not a Winter activity type anyway. Outside of my daily walks with my dog, I stay near my shop's furnace. LOL

Floats may happen. I live two blocks from Lake Michigan, and there are several smaller lakes in my area.

Tom, First, thanks for sharing your build with us. The finished model has a very neat retro feel to it. It makes me very unhappy with my stock Kadet Sr. ARF ! However, modifying and bashing my intact and flying ARF is low on my project list but your's gives me ideas for when I do go for it. I like the fax rear door on the left side, sorta like a Tripacer has, good idea. I will steal that idea on something. Please post more photos when you get all the trim items finished. Let me once again be so bold as to throw a few Ideas at you for consideration for final trim finish up. 1) Large matching red "NC" numbers on the wings, top and bottom 2) period correct "NC" numbers on the vert. stab, maybe on the rudder in a vertical pattern 3) fax door handles on both doors 4) a continuation of the red area around the side windows with a thin red strip around the base of the windshield so there is red at the top and bottom of the windshield. I think that would tie the red at the top in with the side area. 5) and last but not least, a smiling pilot in the cockpit. Just stuff I would do but I know you have some things in mind too. Enjoy your Kadet, good job!

Outstanding job Tom - positively beautiful plane.

The Minwax poly is fuelproof? Hmmmm, might need to look at that, I'm planning to cover my SIG mini-Stratus (scaled down to .40 size) with koverall but I've been looking at alternative paints, other than dope. If I can just put the polyurethane over them and it's OK, that'd be great.

May? Geez, yours is ready to go, my SR. Falcon is ready to go, we need to be flying. Decided today to steal the batteries out of my Eagle-II for the Sr. Falcon, she's flying tomorrow, one way or the other. I fired up the 46LA this afternoon, she caught on the first flip of the prop. Battery is in that once-empty front compartment and I also added 2.25 oz of lead to the front of the fuel tank compartment. She now balances right at the rear-most recommended CG point which, for me, is good to go. Supposed to be cloudy, rainy and breezy later in the afternoon but I've got the morning pretty much clear, maybe as late as 2PM.
