Hi Leroy,
I have not started on my wing tips yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have done.

Leroy

It was idle chit-chat (chewing that fat) while waiting for more progress reports from the build.

If you recall Leroy, you were whining about not enough diversity in your viewers, and you had gone quit over the holidays, and then your cleansing and illness... you were quit for sometime, when you popped in and made a statement to the effect of, you were glad to see the thread being used, since you were indisposed and there wasn't any others interested in your build, or something to that effect... I'm not going to bother searching through the thread for the exact post... but this is what happens during idle times, when the original author is away.

If you feel that our chit chat was out of line, then by all means say something... contact a moderator or admin with the offending post#'s and have them removed... by all means clean up the thread.

Don't worry so much so about the number followers in the thread... "build it, and they will come" , the ones that are interested in that type of build will... if they are few and far between, then log the build for any and all who want to view and participate.

Leroy, enjoy the rest of your build mate.

Well, I'm big enough to admit it! I take full responsibility for my imperfect human tendencies. Lord knows I have quite a few. Sorry for the disruption. I'll try to miss my coffee cup from now on. John R. I extent an olive branch to you. It just hit me wrong this morning in what I read. It's kinda like when a new kid on the block just horns in with out introducing himself. People tend to not like that kinda thing. Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and let us get to know you. On the other sight of course! We all get that site along with this one so we will see it. Now you, unfortunately, know me somewhat, I just don't like being poked in the eye, as I'm sure you are the same. Lets get along and be friendly. I'm really a nice guy, as long as I don't get kicked when I'm sleeping.

Those tips look very strong and accurate. I don't know how the full scale is done but before covering you may want to see if the fabric has a droop coming off the straight line. Black arrows in pic is where I'm talking about. Just a thought.

Leroy,
Your wings look crisp and clean

Question regarding the flying struts.
Has anyone devised a quick disconnect/reconnect? What is entailed concerning them with field assembly.
The Gilmore has optional flying wires. Not sure if I will add them if upfit Is a pain in the rear.

Well, in business for myself I learned real quick to see what is wrong. And I know you always understand what I say and what I mean. Plus, you just happen to be a very fine modeler to boot. Makes being a part of your thread that much more enjoyable!!! Thank you, keep at it.

Leroy, from my experience with two AW 1/4 scale sports Cubs I had the pin and clips like you have but I prefer a bolt and nylon inserted lock nut, the struts rattle from engine vibration. It takes les then I min per bolt to setup so well worth the effort.

Leroy, Great idea on the lift strut kit. It looks like good quality stuff, and should save some building time. I'm doing a Premier 1/4 scale J-3 - think I'll order a set for it. John R.

Same thing with my 1/4 cub. all so if the struts are functional for wing loading they need to be tight for both positive and negative load.

Just my 2 pennies worth
