Truth be known it is a conspiracy to decline the US economy, why else has the commander in chief been telling them to send them. An example is all those deep south children that was shipped to the border, directed to walk across, and then spread throughout the US, they were told to. Yes, and it goes deeper than that...they want to move the entire world into a one world government, with claims it will make the world a safer place, BS... problem being it can't work under a democracy... it will be based on socialism... they need to tear down our democracy, and rebuild it on the backs of socialism in order for it to work under the one world government... when you have the President of the United States, state, that the constitution is getting in his way, and then goes and makes illegal executive orders to circumvent our governmental processes to get the things he wants done... the American people better wake up, its no longer a government "of the people, by the people, for the people", its being manipulated from outside "by a select few, for a select few" like the monitary powers of this world.

There are other pages in this build where the same thing was going on, really makes me wonder, Sorry, at the moment I don't have a lot of nice words to say, better just get off.
Leroy don't get so upset over the idle chit' chat.... I try to ovoid it, but one thing leads to another, but it always fades out.

The younger crowd is more focused on the 3D flying, than scale builds... don't ask me why, I don't see what the fuss is all about with this 3D flying stuff... don't see what the fuss is all about with snow boarding, or skate boarding... but its the younger crowd that drives the majority of the interests and seem to have a greater influence over the hobbies / sports... just like how our generation was when we were younger... I see a lot of people coming back from electric to IC, things change... you'll get more interested as you near completion... there's a lot of side liners that will emerge when you post the final details.

Leroy don't take it out on everybody just because the masses aren't chiming in about your build... you are driving everyone off with your whining... and if you don't like what you read, or what someone posts, then put them in your ignore list, then you won't even see their post.

Frankly Leroy, you're a very talented builder, and not having meet you face to face, I can tell you're generally a nice guy... but there is more than just Leroy Gardner that makes up this world, and everyone has their opinion... why one would want to Isolate themselves from everyone else beats me... nothing that was written was derogatory, or offensive towards you in anyway... if you think everyone is going stay on topic 100% of the time, then you are sadly mistaken...side conversation emerge, sparks interests, cause debates, unrest, disputes... that is what happens in a public forum... I meant no harm to you with my one world statement... it is of my opinion, and the opinion of many, it was sparked by something that was written by another member... you have every right to disagree with me, but you don't have the right to silence me.

I'll check in from time to time to see how miserable you are... for god sacks Leroy get over it, life is too short to let things bother you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please by all means put me in your ignore list, you won't hurt my feelings at all

Seeing how this is my thread that makes me the moderator of it and if it has gotten to the point that there is nothing to comment on any more then there is no further reason to continue the build here. It don't take a lot to tick me off about some things and when someone says to chill out on my own thread it gives me reason to stuff this where the sun don't shine and retire to my shop where everything is my way and I have no problem with that.

Some of you have the wrong idea while visiting my thread and if you have no respect for my wishes maybe it's you who should go somewhere else with your unwanted trash. Enough said I hope.
Leroy you’re not the moderator but you can ask a moderator to intervene on your behalf. There is no reason to spend your time frustrated with those who will post off topic just for arguments sake.

OK to get back on topic i have a question concerning j-3 Cub models. I have a 1/5th scale SIG my adult son is trying to talk me into loaning/donating to his local CAP squadron. The airplane is covered in bright yellow and has CAP insignia circa 1945. When I built it I left the cheesy looking (in my opinion) engine moldings. I still have them, I even painted them, Long story short, if I do let them use it as a display should I add them or leave them off?

That would be a good question for your son to answer, the plane had them.

I just would like to put my two cents worth in to say as far as I have ever seen you are a class act . You are a very talanted builder who has much too offer many of us There will always be somebody who for whatever reason feels the need to try and insult sombody . Keep up the good work ..

FlyerinOKC As far as the J3 if it is for display its not going to look right with no jugs sticking out the sides . If it is a nice looking model it might be worth getting an after market set of engine cylinders and ducts . I think you can get them in 1/5 scale . If it is not for display then I wouldn't worry too much . I would only put the time into spoofing the plane up if it was going to be apreciated . The plastic ones are a bit on the cheesy side but the plane will look a bit cheesy without anything too .

Leroy,
Have you done any more testing on your cover right mock up ? Shoot paint on it, set it in the sun ?
Are you going to move forward with it ?

Leroy I deleted the post, Forum Nazi was out of line. I apologize. The post 1079 mentions not using shear webbing after re-reading it I realized it’s only a mockup. I guess a little crow is in order.

I do stick by my observations that everyone at some point wanders off topic even it’s a comment or two and if you’d lighten up a bit there would be many more participants. I do follow the rules and expect others to as well however I am not so rigid that I cannot enjoy a bit of off topic discussion or someone else's picture of their pride and joy. An encouraging word or two goes a long way. This is one of the better threads going with the least amount of participants got to ask yourself why. In fact I think you did at one point.

I also am working on a BUSA 1/4 scale cub I am doing as a clip wing complete with proper documentation for competition. Your intention to compete with yours will need that and pictures of the paint scheme are necessary. Even Fun Scale for ARF’s require some sort of picture to prove your model resembles a real proto type.

I was drawn to this thread because I have a set of plans for a 1/2 scale Cub I was thinking of working it out to a newer version of the Super Cub. I was interested in what changes you had made. Instead I’ll just go back to the North Land PA 18 drawings and continue on as before.

Kevin there is no sun so it would be hard to see how it handles the heat this time of year. I had to unroll the covering to see how much was there and was surprised to find only 10 feet at 48" wide and the end of the roll was wet, it had been in my heated shop for 6 months so was surprised to find it wet, I will save it and use it on something. I did order a 10 meter roll of Solartex today, this stuff I know, I really don't want to do Stits at this time.

Leroy Something odd is going on hear, It's posted yet still here

Popworm Dennis, I think I have explained enough and I don't owe any more, it's a good time to drop it and if you read my last 3 or 4 posts you know how I feel.

When I sent my DLE 30 engine to G.P. Hobby Services I expected to get it back ready to go, not the case, as a matter a fact it is still doing the same thing I sent it in for. I half expected that when I saw the parts list they said they put in the engine none of which even had anything to do with the problem. All indications suggest the engine had never been ran to confirm a fix. Might be one of the reasons they won't answer their phone.

Could be that people at the DLE China factory might have an interest in how they are being ripped off on phony repair charges and I'm holding some of the proof, stay tuned.

Ken, you thoughts are starting to mirror my own. At the least I'll but the SIG cheek pieces on before I let them have it. I may try to arrange a demonstration flight for them to watch at one of the local fields. I don't think the A/P they meet would appreciate it being flown there.
