SIG SSE engine mount question
I am close to being done with my SIG SSE that I have been working on for over a year. Down to a few last things to do...
I mounted the engine inverted and am now running into an issue with the throttle control linkage. It would really help things line up if I could trim off about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of the tip of the engine mount to give clearance for the carburetor arm to clear. If I were to do this, there would still be at least 1/4 of an inch left between the first engine bolt and the tip of the engine mount.
Is there any problem with trimming off the tip of the engine mount to create more clearance? If not, then I would plan to use either a razor saw or Dremel to cut it off.
I am using the standard SIG engine mounts that the kit came with. I believe they are glass filled plastic.
Thanks anyone for the help.

Nice to hear that your finishing up on your SSE!
Ditto with Joe. Trimming shouldn't cause any problems. If you're running a bolt through the mount and using a nut to fasten, remember to always use either a lock washer along with a flat washer (lock washer between the flat washer and the nut), or use some sort of thread lock compound. Like those found at automotive stores.
If you use a wood or metal type of screw that taps into to plastic mount as you screw it in, be sure the screw is long enough where you just start to see the tip coming out through the bottom.
Post some pics of your plane. Would love to see a fresh new SSE!
