Great Planes PT-60 Trainer 2 stroke engine choice???
Getting back into hobby..... I have decided to go with an OS 2 stroke glow engine for my Trainer.... but which size? Basic requirement for this plane is a .40-.60 engine..... Below are some of my choices.....
OS 55AX 1.68 HP 14.3 oz w/o muffler ~$170
OS 65AX 1.73 HP 17.5 oz w/o muffler ~$200
OS 75AX 2.37 HP 20.4 oz w/o muffler ~$230 (note: significant increase in power over 65AX)
I was planning on using the same engine for a subsequent project...... perhaps a Goldberg Tiger 60 Sport Kit.....

Hi Foxbat, I would power it with something you want to keep in it, chances are you will want to keep the PT60 for a second plane or as a relaxer. After all a person can never have to many planes can they? I take 3 aircraft to the field with me every time and I never know which one I will have the most fun with, sometimes the Tiger, sometimes the Ultrasport, sometimes the Canard Assisted Tail less.

Oh and I forgot about the PT20 I just finished up as a taildragger, I think I can shoehorn that in the vehicle too!

Another vote for a 20ccer! Built stock, the PT60 is very tail heavy.......I lightened the tail area in my Son's a bunch and it still needed the weight of the 20cc to balance.YMMV
