Default Rv-4 wingtips

Hello all,

I am new here and I am building the gp rv 4 40. The provided wing tips are garbage. I have read that people have carved now ones out of balsa blocks. I am wondering if they are absolutely necessary. If I did not put them on, would it effect the way the plane flies? It would be nice to just sand the ends of the wings flush and cover them.

Thanks for the input.

Well....
An RV4 without wingtips will look kind of funny, but it should fly just fine. I seriously doubt you will notice any difference.

Your right, they are tricky to assemble and get lined up just right. They arent even the right length, but with a bit of time spent on them, they come out looking not too bad. I dont think they have a great effect on flight performance, so the choice is yours to leave them off or not. Maybe take a break from them for now and work on another part of the aircraft, then go back to them fresh.

You can always buy some fiberglass wing tips from Fiberglass Specialities.
