Quick assembly and tip of the fingers balance check confirmed that the plane is tail heavy. I had to construct a hatch under the fuel tank for the receiver battery.

Turned out great!!!!!! Those landing gear make a HUGE difference for the better in how this plane looks! Did you clip any off the wing or leave it stock? Congrats on the successful flights and may there be many more to come!

flygilmore - The wings are stock, but without the end "fence" piece (as it is stored in a wing bag and these end pieces will not fit).
I was a bit worried at first that the high landing gear stance will cause issues with take off, placing the aeroplane at high angle of attack, but this proved to be a non issue.
I made couple more flights yesterday with it in windy conditions, and you can tell it is a very light aeroplane :-)

I see that there is some dihedral in the wing, can this wing be made without the Dihedral and still fly OK?

Glen - The wing certainly can be built without Dihedral. It has only 1.5" in total (0.75" at each wing tip). The aeroplane will fly fine without it. You will need to make your own straight Dihedral braces which is very easy to do.
My Stingray 120 had 160 flights when I gave it to a friend in 2020. It has accumulated many more flights since, it is a great flying aeroplane.

I've been going back and forth on what to build next, the Stingray or the Smoothie XL. Still haven't decided which one too go with.

Glen - The Smoothie XL is on my "to do" list as well. I am waiting for it to be available again in Australia (it has been out of stock for over a year)...

I'm another grateful modeler that is glad you went to all the trouble to take all those pics. A fabulous resource for builders, not just for the Stingray, but kit building in general. So many would like to give kit building a go, but are intimidated by the unknown. I've built a bunch of kits. I'm thinking the Stingray would be a great knock about model to fly when I don't want to bother with the scale planes in my hanger. THANKS!!!!

I ended up taking a 25 year hiatus from RC flying to concentrate on full scale. When I got back into the sport in 2015, I built a BUSA Stingray 40. It lasted 5 years and a couple of hundred flights progressing from an ST-40 to an OS 46AX and finally an OS 55AX. It’s a great little plane taking me from a novice up to my first competition in IMAC Basic. Loved that little plane. I finally retired it after a minor mishap showed that the fuel-soaked fuselage was at the end of its life!
