Wolff-Pak "Thrush"
I purchased this kit at a AMA swap meet for $10. It's a attic find that was open and missing a few parts, but nothing that can't be replaced. I started the build a couple of weeks ago, and I will post some pictures in the next couple days. Update: In case anyone wants to see what you get with the kit, this is what you get instead of plans: .

Side note, picked up this OS 46LA for $10, and thinking about putting it in the Thrush. Bench test found a problem with the valve assembly, $21 dollars later the part is on its way. Update: received the valve assembly and the 46LA is purring much better. Did notice fuel bubbling from the head, so have a new head gasket on order. $6 more to the price of the $10 engine. $37 still not a bad price for it.

You will like thrush easy to build and a good flyer . I have one now that I've been flying for the last two or three years. Purchased 4 to 5 shrikes and the one thrush in the early 80s . All the shrikes are gone . The thrust I have an os 35 on it . Flys well with the 35.

A.J. Clark, I would really like to see some pictures of your Thrush. The only one I could find is the one on the box... Google search only finds the Strike.

I only have my phone for internet use. I've never figured out how to put pictures up. If I new how I would be glad to do it. The picture on the box is pretty true to what it looks like. One thing I did was dye the canopy . I though it added a nice touch to it. I dye it red but it came out alot lighter than I wanted looks more orange than red but I was still happy with it.

A.J. Clark, I noticed that and was planning on putting 3/8" angle stock along the edges for reinforcement. The other thing I was looking at was the picture has a well rounded fuselage. With the angle stock they give, this is going to end up a very boxy airplane.

There is probably a sanding block in your future if you want the rounded fuselage. On the upside you can get rid of a lot of weight behind the wing.

mgnostic, that is what I am looking for pictures of other peoples Thrush's. The kit has 3/8" angle placed along the inner corners of the fuselage, and with heavy sanding into those angle pieces still wont give the profile of the boxes picture. I am concerned with taking off to much and compromising the structure, so at this point I have just sanded off a 1/4" round along the edge.

This weekend's work... Side note: When you order a motor mount for and OS 40-46LA that is made by OS, just expect it not to fit, thus the spitting of the mount in picture 3.

Looks like things are going together good for you. I looked at mine again . I just rounded edge. I didn't try to make the hole fuse round . I was a little concern about to much sanding on the edges.

Wing ready for covering, fuselage covering has started! For anyone following this thread, I started another one for a GLA Great Little Airplane, that can be followed at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit-...l#post12316400

I built 2 of these back in a day. The first was powered by a Saito 45. Some would say it may have been a bit underpowered but I loved that plane. It was very docile on landing but was mildly aerobatic. Did everything I wanted it to do. The second one was powered by a Supertigre .40. Still not overpowered but again was a great plane. If I found a kit for $10 I would build a 3rd one. The OS 46 should be great and if you have a Saito 56 laying around that would be great as well. Look forward to seeing the completed model.

FlyerInOKC, thank you first of all. The kit only came with an instruction book: I wish that it had prints also, just in case I ever had to rebuild a wing or tail... I am going to try to have it ready for flight by the end of the weekend, then the next good weather day... !!!
