1/4 scale Piper Pawnee, the kit itself is from National Balsa and I have the full scale plans from Hostler. I was wondering if anyone is building one of these or has in the past. The plans are very detailed, however no instructions and for the record I have built kits in the past.

Paul, are you going to do a build thread? Following builds and making recommendations is pretty popular on this board. Hosteler designs are usually pretty good but they aren't perfect I have heard several complaints on some of his other designs. I don't think there are any perfect designs from any designer out there so I wouldn't let my comment worry you. Evert=y designer has his own little quirks. Here is a link to a Hosteler Bonanza build that has been on going since March I am sure it would give you a feel for the way Hosteler designs his models.

Paul , Wendell doesn't usually provide instructions with his plans . You may find some build notes on the plans occasionally but no instruction like you would find in a kit from like Top Flite or Sig .
You may find some Hostetler builds on some of the other sites like RCScalebuilder . Most of his plans build very similarly using the same design methods across the majority of his plans .

I have a couple Hostetler build threads on RC groups. They are typical Hostetler builds, and should provide an idea of what to expect.

I like Hostetler designs, but they aren't for the novice.

With kit building experience, a modeler should be able to build a Hostetler design. The plans have some omissions, so planning ahead is essential.

I believe that there is a Pawnee build thread, on RC Groups, or Flying Giants.

Tom I did see the one you're talking about on RCgroups and yes helps tremendously. Not my first build, however first without step by step instructions. I find the plans very detailed.
In the process of finishing up and electric glider an ARF and then get started on this one.

As you get into it, you may find omissions in the plans. I know that I found them, in my two builds.

It's not a big deal, though. Past building experience should carry you through most problems. When you find something that you can't work through, many builders will offer helpful suggestions.

I have seen his work. Yes very impressive. I remember the first glider I built and I think was back late 80 s and no internet then, this forum in an incredible resource of information. thanks guys.
