Congrats on adding to your retirement stash.

I had several kits stashed for the same purpose. I've been retired nearly nine years, and that stash is pretty much gone.

Hmmmm, I thought I was nearly complete accumulating kits. Maybe I need to get a few more! In addition to R/C kits I have a Guillows B-17, P-51, some Comet kits, and a ton of Estes model rocket kits. Maybe I see an Estes Saturn V in my future also...

By the way - I grew up in Grand Haven. Did you go to the Coast Guard festival this year?

It looks like it from reading the kit reviews! It's seems like it's been out of stock for a long time so as soon as I saw it was back in stock I jumped on it.

Are you going to make any modifications? I added Navigation and landing lights, and a luggage door to hide switches and sawed the center section off the back of the wing and mounted it permanently to get a more scale transition. I have the project on hold while I finish something else off.

A coworker of mine has a full scale 182, I was going to take some pics and see what I think would be reasonable. A cockpit kit and nav lights for sure, I'm going to go through some build threads to get some other ideas.

Here is a good thread with several projects including mine. It has been dormant for a while but has some good information.

I've been to Grand Haven, but I've never attended the festival.

I suggest that you don't get too far ahead in your kit purchases. I know that my interests changed over the years, and I'm wanting to build models other than what is in my stash.

The kits I have are airplanes I've been wanting to build for a while. A Great Planes F-4 Phantom is probably the last kit I would add to my collection. If I was to scratch build I would look for a nice set of B-58 Hustler plans, prop instead of turbine.

I have a BUSA Smoothie XL, for this Winter's build. Next Winter's will be a Hostetler Fairchild 24. After that, I have an old kit for a Jim Messer Piper Tomahawk. Nothing is for sale, though. Sorry.

Jerry Bates has a couple designs, that I'd like to fit in, sometime, or another. LOL

Plans include:
Brian Taylor Spitfire 1/5 scale with the the fiberglass parts

I admit, I would like to build one of every WW1 1/4 scale fighter !

But I have to eventually build an 1/4 Albatross , and a 1/3 Fokker D7...Bud Nosen Mr. Mulligan.. some sort of auto gyro interests me.. And probably at least one decent sized Corsair.
This is a subject, I shouldn't even start thinking about ! Its Dangerous ! I try not to allow myself to look at sites with free download of plans.. It messes my head up

The Mulligan and the auto gyro, interest me, off of you list. I'd need to learn how to fly the gyro, though.
