Sig kougar Build

Just out of curiosity, does this plane come with a plastic or FG cowl? I'm considering buying a kit and would prefer a FG cowl as it would take a bit more punishment than a vacu-formed plastic will

Wash the plastic kit cowl in soap and water to remove any mold release agent. Then scratch up the inside real good with some 80 grit sandpaper. Lay in some fiberglass and epoxy. It will last for a really long time as long as you paint it with a fuel proof paint.

I had the day off so spent much of the day working on the kougar. I epoxied the reinforcements on the inside of the firewall. I finished all the wing mounting pieces on the wing. Just alittle more to do to the wing then it's ready to cover. I spent some time sanding and contouring the fuselage. It's not quit done but I ran out of daylight. I do the heavy sanding outside. I also put balsa filler on rough areas of the tail pieces. All the tail pieces need is a final light sanding and they are ready to cover!

I have the kougar completely covered. This was my first ever covering job, and It looks like it haha. It came out okay, I learned alot and my next kit will look alot nicer. But I really like my color choice. Now it's an arf haha.

I hinged all the control surfaces last night. And I installed the servo tray in the fuselage. My covering iron died on me. So I gotta order a new one. I want to tighten up the monokote before final assembly. But there's still tons of odds and ends to do! But still enjoying every minute of it!

Finished!
It took 7 weeks flat. I'm happy with the results and I learned alot about building. This an awesome looking design. I'm done with arf's. It's supposed to be 60 here in Chicago today but 30mph winds. So the maiden won't happen today haha.
