Ok well this pig is close to flying, wheels are in, radio is hooked up and charging, and balance is correct with a tad bit nose heavy. I have no idea what others get for weight but I’m right under 8 pounds with landing gear installed. Plans are calling for 6.5 and I will go ahead and call BS on that weight. I had to add a pound of lead to the nose to get balance…….It will fly just fine but wow…….. I think the last one was the same way.

Nice work! It sure turned out pretty. I bet it will fly just fine at that weight, and that 6.5 lb is quite optimistic and probably without landing gear.

Radio is programmed, control throws set, and the plane is ready to fuel up and set the engine. I’ll run it, set the idle and high end needles and get it to the field to trial fly it. Should be in the air by the end of the week……..can’t wait to get this hog on the lake!

Nice looking North Star. Waiting on your flight report. Nice catch on the Midwest Cardinal Squire Kit.

Ready to go…….. TTpro 46 pulls it along great on my bumpy back yard, this thing will handle like a dream on the petromat. It has excellent acceleration on the ground and wants to take off easily, I could have had it airborne in roughly 75 ft on bumpy grass……let’s fly this pig!!!

I'll fly it next week, the heat is pretty bad and no-one is at the field.
I ran it in today and got low end and high end needles set.
Damn thing runs pretty good...............I'll use the runway for the first few flights, then the lake from then forward.
Thanks for checking it out!

Hey that a great looking plane sitting there with the engine running. It has stretched its legs, felt the sun and the breeze and ready to do that flying thing. I hope the temperature drops for you next week. It hit 100 degrees shortly after 8am yesterday here in Az. I saw that Bushwacker but I already have that kit. I built one around 78/79. Nice little sport plane, I always had to add a touch of power just before touchdown to keep if from bouncing during landing. Would be nice if the was a fiberglass cowl available for that Cardinal Squire.

Ron,
I just unboxed the Squire and it is like a time capsule, almost flawless and untouched.
I think this exact kit was in my collection 20 years or so ago.
Man I got to get another one on the table or I'll run out of time.
Finishing a Midwest SuperHots kit right now that is half built but won't do a build log on it.

The Northstar was a fun build, lots of side quests...................

Actually this hots kit has been setting in the background during my last few builds. It it on top of the boxes behind the Northstar. I left it half built as I already have a hots that I fly. What the hell, 2 is better than one anyway……..

I flew the orange one today, have flown a hots for the last 25 or 30 years constantly. The second one is on the table and will be getting a new cowl built this week and begin to get some new color..........this one will be pink, white, blue, and black.........lol
I know my colors are weird, but I have old eyes and these fly pretty fast so I gotta see it. The orange one has a ST 61 abc and the new one is getting an OS sf 61 abc, both have pipes and headers ready to install even though they really don’t need them.
Today I handed my radio to an 18 yr old kid that flies foam jets like a champ..........he loved it, beat the snot out of it. He had never held a 72 mhz radio ever, asked me if he had to do anything different..............lol
