Default CAP 21?

I had this posted in the Giant Scale side with no luck, I'm hoping it will do better here.

Well I picked up ANOTHER plane today (actually 3!). It appears to be a CAP 21. Nobody can figure out what kit or if it really is a CAP 21. I'll try posting some pics. If anyone has any ideas , please let me know. It's 72" span foam cored wing, balsa sheeted foam turtle back, built relatively light even though it looks like a tank! Thanks Brian

It looks like a cap21 except the wing is not right. It's not a cap20 wing either so Im' guessing a 21 with a different wing plan form hopeing it wil fly better.

Hey
One piece wing with flaps, fiberglass cowl, foam turtle deck .......could be an old modeltech. I had one that was that size. Firewall looks like it big enough to bolt a 2.1 Webra Bully on the front swinging a Graupner 16x8 three blade. That big divit on the side of the fuse near the firewall is a mystery. Dont know......

Not too many 72" Cap 21's were made most were big or little.

It's not a cap10b either. You could be right about the Model Tech but I thought their's was a 60 incher.

The Model Tech ones were .60 to .90 size from what I was able to research. I believe the indent was to allow for an upright motor installation using a standard muffler. The cowl from my Sig CAP 231EX fits nicely, so I can get a cowl for it even though it's not the correct one.

All,

I dont remember that indent. Really I dont. Maybe I never noticed it before. Weird. ...LOL

The first motor on my 72" modeltech was a YS120. I had it mounted inverted and it fit and flew nicely. next I crammed a Webra Bully (2.1) glow with a 24 oz tank shoved inside. Exploded on a downwind comming out of a 1/2 Cuban 8 over water at the Big bird in Denton, Texas a long time ago. Shucked a blade on a Graupner 16x8 that had been drilled one to many times. LOL

Strong airplane, from the looks of yours you got your work cut out for ya.

Good luck

Here's a pic of my CAP 21. This is a .40 size I built from a Great Planes kit. The wing on your CAP looks like it has a lot less tapering (sp). The fin and stab look about the same.

Scott.

I'm going to weight it shortly so I have starting and ending figures. I plan to put an ASP 1.20 in it and see what happens. Overall it's an interesting plane. Never seen flaps on something like this though. It has a narrow wing cord like my GP CAP 231EX which scares me some because that thing would snap just looking at it!
