Default prop shaft spacer

I am putting together a Sportsman Aviation Wayco Acrobat and I have ran into a potential stumbling block. With the cowl in it's proper position and the prop on , the prop touches the cowl. can I put a spacer on the prop shaft prior to installing the prop to help the prop clear the cowl and if so will a washer work or should I use a seregated washer?

genirwin--

Not familiar with the plane but been there on the problem......

The best thing to do is move the engine forward on the mount....I know it's a hassle but it's your best bet..

Adding washers can cause props to come loose w/ potential danger to yourself and bystanders. Besides adding washers may put undue stress on your engines bearings.

If you had to add washers they would be better BEHIND the engine(between the engine mount and firewall). Just be careful you don't change your engine thrust in the process.....IMHO

They make mounts with longer arms. Look at 4-stroke mounts. Your other option is to try to move the cowl back, but washers behind the propeller is not good.

Fox makes prop shaft spacers, but they will put your prop way out in front. I think the shortest they make is 1/2".

You could put washers between the motor mt. and the firewall. I always figure on about six ways of doing something. Usually one of them will work.

Damn flypaper... now I feel stupid. I've had to do this several times and I just made a plywood spacer to put behind the mount. Way to come to the rescue! :applaud:

Well, I too thought of a plywood spacer but I wanted to bring up the question of spacers, which I really didn't know if they were available. A spacer would be a much faster and easier fix. Thanks for the replys.
