"Twas the Night Before Building Season...
Hey guys,
I wrote this up a little while ago, and since it is about kit building, and 'tis the season, I decided to post it here. Enjoy!!
‘Twas the night before building season
When all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Except the modeler with his computer mouse.
His hard-drive was whirring,
His pointer was hopping,
Since this modeler was modern,
He did some internet shopping.
He had his catalogues spread out neatly on the top shelf,
No, he did not believe in Santa, no not even one Elf.
His wife called to him but there was no time to go to bed,
Because visions of fantastic new airplanes danced in his head!
There were kits and ARFs, four stroke engines and two,
So many choices, what should he do?
There were warbirds and aerobatics
Pattern planes and those for 3-D,
So many planes he wanted,
Oh my, what a shopping spree!
He spread the goodies out to all in order to conquer this dilemma,
He bought a whole shipload, hoping it wouldn’t piss off his wife Emma!
A Great Planes Extra “for” Bobby, a Sig Four Star “for” Sam,
A Top-Flite P-51 “for” Andy, and an O.S. 61 “for” Pam.
He cleaned off his building table just in time the night before,
What once cluttered his homasote was now on the floor.
The huge package arrived on schedule exactly at three,
The modeler disappeared into his basement, screaming a mighty “Weeeheeee!!”
On Exacto! On Epoxy! Cure cyanoacrylate!
He spent so much time building, he starved, he barely ate.
Many nights went by, long nights he hardly slept.
So tired he became, he became quite inept.
He glued his fingers to the left wing, and his elbow to the tail,
When he ripped himself free, did he cry, did he wail!
He mounted the engine backwards, what a difficult kit,
He put his thumb through the turtle deck, and bellowed “Oh sh*t!”
Finally, months later, he was down to his last one,
He was impatient, he was cranky, this was no fun!
All those memories of mistakes, in his mind they did sting,
And before he knew it, he built a second left wing!
Oh no, he was out of ideas, what to do now?
He thought and thought, and finally it hit him hard, POW!!
He had a vision, an epiphany, they took away his pain,
He decided to build two right wings and, voila, a biplane!
The snow had melted, and Spring brought sunny May,
It was the club’s first Fun Fly, and he was off on his way,
Blue skies, green grass, oh what a sight!
Upon arriving at the field, the modeler exclaimed:
Have a wonderful flying season, and to all a good flight!!
Happy Holidays!

my wife nags me for being out building the kit and taking up too much of my time. You have a very trusting partner if she let you sit down and write that epic!!
Well done and good luck
