Default GP's Rapture 40????

Just received the latest Tower Talk and noticed they are introducing the Rapture 40 kit....sure looks like a plane I used to own...like maybe the UltraSport 40? Anybody know for sure - maybe it is an 'improved' US 40?

I have an UltraSport40+ It looks somewhat similar, but there are significant differences...

On the Plus side...
It looks like it is laser cut, not die-cut.

On the minus side...
single servo for ailerons
No retract option.
no flap option.
not a cowled engine.

I think [link=http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma0220.html]Rapture Page[/link] sums it up when it says it is a step up from a trainer though....

I sort of get the impression that it is a sort of GP version of the Sig Something Extra

I saw one at the hobby shop it looks like it has a fully symetrical constant cord wing with sheeting only in the center section. There are no stringers across the LE? of the wing the turtle deck uses stringers and is not carved like a ultra sport.

"the turtle deck uses stringers and is not carved like a ultra sport. " Must mean less time sanding :-)

I have seen this kit, and I'm really impressed. It IS laser cut, and I don't think they are going after the Sig SE, this looks to me like they're going right at the 4*. It looks like an Ultra Sport Body with slightly different tail feathers. The wing is a constant chord and longer that the US+ too.

Single servo for ailerons? What's the problem? We flew like that for YEARS! It's easier than 2 servos, and you don't need to buy an extra servo. The advantages of using 1 servo per aileron are GREATLY over exagerated IMO, especially on a non-3-D 40 size plane.

No retract option? Not needed on an intermediate plane.

No Flap option? Neither did the original US (Nor the 4*) And with torque rod type ailerons, Flaps are easy enough to bash in.

Not a cowled engine? As I said, they're going after the 4*. Cheeks are easier than a cowl.

I for one, am delighted that GP has come out with this thing. They 4* is a great flyer, but I was never crazy about it's looks. I like the looks of the Rapture much better.
