RE: sig Smith Mini plane engine& covering?
The plane is rated for a .40 -.46 2 stroke.
I guess that would equal about a .50 - .70 4 stroke..
I plan on using the RCV .58CV in mine.
As for covering, what ever suits. I'll probably go with a 'Monokote' (Ultracoat actually) covering, as it's easy, and I've done many many planes with it before. I'm also entertaining the thought of 21 century fabric. But so far, haven't really found a local source for it..

RE: sig Smith Mini plane engine& covering?
When I had mine, I used a xl-40 magnum. I think that a 46 will do the trick and fly it just right. I only needed a little more power to carry the up lines smoother. The beauty is the 40-46 engines fit inside the cowl with nothing showing. I covered it in worldtex/solartex covering. A tad heavier but worth the effort and I personally think its easier to work with than ulrta or monokote. All I remember is doing all those triangles and numbers. About 6 hours worth of cutting and ironing, but at that point you have to have patience after building the stick and former plane(not to mention cutting out all the fuse sides and bottom.) It flew great and had a good roll rate dispite the other members saying that it rolls terible. On the incedence I think I had these numbers.(pretty standard)
Lower wing: 0 degrees
upper wing: -1 degrees
H-stab: 0 degrees
motor: 2 deg right, 1 deg down.
