Good job on the planking. I like the looks of smooth tight monokote (or whatever) over a round planked turtledeck. If this is your first kit, you're doing fine. Main thing on a first kit, don't sweat the small stuff (you will make mistakes). Build it and fly it.

Looks good. Make sure you take your time with the cowl. It's hard to get it to match up, but it can be done.
Are you planning to put flaps on it? They are very effective.

Wow, beautiful job on the covering... hope mine looks that good! lol heres the scheme i might use ([link=http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=450147&WxsIERv=VmFuJ3MgUlYtNA%3D%3D&WdsYXMg=VW50aXRsZWQ%3D&QtODMg=S2VtYmxlIChFR0JQKQ%3D%3D&ERDLTkt=VUsgLSBFbmdsYW5k&ktODMp=SnVseSAyMDAz&BP=1&WNEb25u=QWxhbiBCcm93bg%3D%3D&xsIERvdWdsY=Ry1TQVJW&MgTUQtODMgKE=&YXMgTUQtODMgKERD=OTA%3D&NEb25uZWxs=MjAwMy0xMS0wMg%3D%3D&ODJ9dvCE=&O89Dcjdg=&static=yes]Here[/link])
The cowl doesnt seem that hard to paint cause id do it all in royal blue after priming, im going to re order it though b/c i cut it out already and did a very poor job so, ill give it a 2nd shot
Yes to the flaps! my dads nexstar has the screw on ones and im amazed with how it performs so this model with real flaps that i control?? ehehehehe cant wait... =D
PS what engine do u recommend? i was thinking OS .46 FX with a pitts style muffler?

Edit on the Pic link thought i had the right one copied =D

RE: 1st kit, what ya think so far?
Hey Matt,
Tough kit for a first build! Good job so far, though.
I'm building one too, and mine's all covered in white Ultracote. I'll be painting varying shades of blue trim with Rustoleum.
Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time sanding, to get everything even and smooth before covering. I start with pretty coarse sanding blocks (I can be impatient) and progress to very fine ones (needed to get a good finish).
I'll be powering mine with a Magnum XL 46 with a Pitts style muffler.
Phil

Mine is powered by a .46FX with a pitts muffler. I use an APC 11X6 and the performance is very solid. You will not have unlimited vertical but you can do real tall hammerheads with it. I really enjoy mine, in fact, it's in the car right now and if the weather breaks I'm going to cut out of work early and go flying.
