RE: GP Skybolt Kit
Well the fuselage it's done 1 month latter, I hope to have the plane flying in less than a month (4 July). I choose to power it with a Saito FA-100 regular servos except for the rudder one.

RE: GP Skybolt Kit
I am building a Skybolt also. Got the fuselage almost done. Starting on wings finally. I am putting an O.S. 1.20 Surpass it it. I also have a Sullivan Skywriter smoke system to go in it to. Can't wait to get it done. Any tips for building the wings would be great.

RE: GP Skybolt Kit
I am responding very late but Damifino brought up an interesting point regarding balancing.
Quote "Warbirds-same story. The real birds had massive powerplants and armament forward of the CG. So, our light weight model engines and lack of guns out front may make it seem as if our kits are poorly engineered. Build 'em, balance 'em and fly the heck out of 'em!! And by all means, have fun!"
If I could find some scale armament to help balance my P-51 by all means I WOULD fly the hell out of it. I'm pretty sure I would have fun too.... Ah strafing and victory rolls would have a whole new appeal.

P.S.
I just maidened my Skybolt last Saturday. What an amazing plane take-off and landing are very easy. Inverted flat spins are easy to enter and easy to exit and are extremely slow and flat. I had never been able to do them with my Somethin' Extra. I do need to spend some time dialing out the rudder coupling in knife edge. It's a biplane so that is to be expected.

RE: GP Skybolt Kit...aileron servos
Question for you GP Skybolt folks...
Does the use of two aileron servos (bottom wing ailerons ) tied to the top two ailerons produce good flying characteristics (ie no flutter good response, etc.)....if I had a chance to add servos to the top wing should I do it...yea or nay?
Thanks,
Bill

RE: GP Skybolt Kit
Bill,
I am using 4 servos in the ailerons (Fut. 3101). Something good is that I dont have to carry with anything else to set the plane at the field. The response is great, but it was quite expensive.
I have the impression that this plane will roll fast (because of its size) even if you use only two standard servos. So my advice is to save some money.

RE: GP Skybolt Kit
Just curious here,
Has anybody mounted a Saito 1.50 in a Super Skybolt? It's the same dimensions as the 1.20, so why not?
Would this give unlimited vertical or what?!
Thanks,
Budd

RE: GP Skybolt Kit
It will balance with the 150 as it has the same weight, also with a 180 the problem have to do with the prop. clearance and vibration transmitted to the small airframe.( I have a YS 110, is unlimited)
