MIDWEST .40 SUKHOI
I have a chance to buy this kit for $85.00 and was wondering if anybody has built and flown it. I don't think they made this kit for quite awhile and I was looking for a good .40 size Sukhoi and came across this one and I know Midwest has a good reputation.

RE: MIDWEST .40 SUKHOI
Hey Sarge--I built one in 1992--it's a nice kit and a nice flier..I'm sitting here looking at a picture of it I snapped back then. No bad habits that I can remember, I had a OS 45fsr on it and it flew great--it was a tad fast for me at the time. I painted it a metallic silver and it was gorgeous but that led to it's downfall!! I got it too far away from me and both sides turned grey--dumbthumbed it into the pavement and returned it to elemental balsa (dust)!!! Wasn't the first and probably not the last!!! Anyway it was a very stable flyer and as with most Midwest kits, nice wood and instructions---GO FOR IT !!

Thanks it's on order. I think I got the last one in existence. Do you remember how it balanced, was it tail or nose heavy? I have a Irvine .53 that I'm going to use on it. I also have a .60 size Sukhoi and I'm getting a .90 size for Christmas with a 1.2 Moki. Love those Sukhoi's!!!

Sarge--as far as I remember it balanced fine---As I recall, it was pretty straight foward right down the line, but it's been awhile ago!!
Here's a 72" Goldberg with a OS 1.08--another good flier

Sarge-- I am running a OS1.08 on 20/20, might also add the motor has been given ceramic bearings from Boca ($80 ouch) It flies superb on a 14X8 Zinger Pro series--I have a 14X10 on order and haven't tried it yet---If this is the kit you're getting to put the Moki on let me know--I have a few pointers that may help---would be a great match with the 1.20 Bob

Hello; I have one of those, great flyer. It currently hangs in the kids play room. It has to be landed fast. The landing gear is a weakness. I have an OS 48 surpass in it. Another fellow at our field has one with an OS 52 surpass in it, the performance is identical. It's an awesome airplane, snaps, spins, just no hovering. It was a fun build it framed up nicely, looks good.
I bought a Midwest G 202 because of the fun experience I had with the Suhkoi. You will love it.

RE: <span class=
well you dont have the last one in existance. I started building my sukhoi over 10 years ago and never finished it. I just got back to it a few weeks ago. If you fly yours soon let me know about your flight report. I was going to put an o.s. 46 FX in mine.

I'm just about ready to start covering mine. This was supposed to be my winter project but it ended up to be a fast build. How is the engine mounted, upright or side?

RE: <span class=
I bought one today from a club member who bought a bunch of planes from a hobby shop going out of business. I got it for $50! Maybe someone else can confirm something I read somewhere else, that the instructions don't mention it but the wing can be built without diherdal for better aerobatics?

In case some one likes the midwest ..AKM laser cuts one the same size and until they had their manufacturing on line they used the Midwest parts. I built the AKM and I'm using an enya .53 4s Flys well lands a little fast, snaps easily, goes where you point it. Mine is very easy on fuel too. I agree NO HOVER.
