Nice job on the SE. Is the puppy about to "christen" the plane? Maybe you should call it "Nitro Pup" lol

Will Do, I hope to get it in the air by Wednesday.

Anything I should be aware of with this plane? (Like any strange behavior or characteristics I should know about before flying it the first time.)

There's a story of a guy at our local field who forgot to secure his wings, took off, started into a roll and both came flying off.

I think he's on his third SE now.

Yeah, I have seen one where the rubber band broke, wing came off on a fly by, planes sure flop around funny with one wing panel.. I use zip ties in the one I had.

Another guy didnt put the wings on right, the dowels were under the fuse.. another bad idea

I've got a zip tie on mine right now.. The plane fits in my vehicle without removing the wings, so I'm thinking I'll just leave them permanently attached.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should set my low rate throws to?

I haven't built mine yet, but will soon. Some people told me to put the throws on a hi-lo system with no more than 60% on the low for the first flight. The person said that this kit has a fast roll rate and you can screw it into the ground or dumb thumb it when you first fly it easily. I'm going to do this with mine, better to be safe than sorry, right? I like the home star scheme though, my second may be a strong bad or a texas flag, one of the two maybe both....

You should love this plane. I've flown the peepee out of mine the past two years. No real bad habits I can find, slows down real nice, speeds up even better. Crank up the throws and have a ball.

Oh yeah, mine took a nose dive from about 20' up (engine died in a hover) dropped nose down smack into the dirt. Broken motor mount, bent wing tube, minor balsa damage (battery pushed the switch out of the side, bottom of fuse broke loose) so she'll take some abuse too.
I do 1/4 throttle blenders with just the rubberbands holding the wings on! Still afraid to go any more

I have a Irvine .53 in mine, great combination Unlimited vertical, though not a rocket pulling out of a hover it moves out ok.[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_701255/anchors_701265/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#701265]click here to see mine back when it was almost finished[/link]

Watch that permanent tie wrap you have. They eventually get brittle. Metal wire wrapped multiple times and tightened might be a better permanent idea. Hate to see you trust a tie wrap for this. At least use a strong rubber band on top of that.

And I was worried about a single rubber band (what the kit says to use) getting brittle and breaking.

The metal wire sounds like a good idea...
