Default LT-40 aftermarket nosegear

I am trying to get my LT-40 in "flying order" for the season. One of the things I want to do is replace the nosegear (bent quite a bit). Not looking to do the tail dragger convert at this time.

Does anyone know the dimensions of that part? Meaning...the width of the shaft, etc. Need the dimensions of the part to take to the hobby shop this evening. Dont have time to go home from work and grab the old nosegear before hobby shop closes.

Thanks for the help.

Fults dual spring nose gear will fit. 1/8" dia wire.

I used the Sullivan Knuckle nosegear. Looks pretty cool and it certainly is made of better material.

I too use the fults nose gear - they are tough and functional. Just be aware that they will transmit a bit more force to the mount/firewall on hard landings so make sure that that area can take the extra punishment.

My vote is for the Sullivan knuckle gear (which only comes in one size). Cheap, light and much less prone to bending than the straight type gear wire that comes with the LT-40. And it will fit right into the existing LT-40 bearing assembly.

I'm sure Fults would work great but its probably a little overkill- more expensive and heavier.

Another vote for the Fults. Heard great things about them.

weight would not be a problem. my plane has a SuperTigre 40 engine in it, and I dont know what the deal is for sure, but the tail of my LT-40 must be "over-engineered"...too much adhesive, etc, because the plane is incredibly tail heavy. I have to weight it down in the nose, bigtime. I put a bag of fish sinkers in the nose of the plane, no joke.

I hear that most LT-40s build tail heavy.....I could use a boat anchor for a front nose gear... !!!
