Default Need advice to finish detail on Lanier CAP 232 tail goup

I need some suggestions to finish the join where the fin base meets the fuselage on the CAP 232.
I made one modification to this airplane which consisted on moving the hinge line 1/4 inch forward to increase the size of the elevator surface (to enhance the 3D performance). This left a 1/4 inch gap between the tip of the fin and the AFT edge of the horizontal stabilizer (see photos). By the way, the kit instructions for this airplane do not call for any specific trim or balsa refill to smooth the lines of this join. Seems to be a little bit ugly (or maybe that's the way it is). Since I have not seen CAP 232 in my flying filed, I have not reference from other flayers.
Please advice.

Personally, I would deep six that plastic piece, and just sheet from the back of the Turtle Deck to the back of the Fin

Thanks for the advice. It really looks ugly, however the additional weight to the tail might be a concern, balsa sheeting might be the answerer. If the original CAP has this looking, then I would only add small triangles to that base of the fin to address the strength issue, anyone else has experience on this model?

Go for the sheeting, or blocks of some sort fared in to form the tail group. That will ad more strength then 50 of those little plastic pieces, and it will let you cover it with film, with ease. I do think I would ad some triangle stock to the bottom while your at it. The sheeting is very easy to do if you just plan it out, and the results will look good.
