Balsa USA 120 Kits
I'm waiting to recieve my Balsa USA Thunderbug 120 kit. From the looks of it it is very similar to the Stingray 120 kit. Has anyone ever built one of these, or seen one. If so can you tell me how hard they are to build and fly? Thanks

RE: Balsa USA 120 Kits
I have the kit waiting in the wings BG. I read a thread a year or two ago about building them. It commented that the tail needed reinforcing. A couple of comments about the tail disconnecting from the plane during flight. I will be very interested in your experiences with the plane. I will not get mine to the building table for 9 to 10 months because of other projects. So may kits so little time. LOL
Good luck

RE: Balsa USA 120 Kits
I had the Stingray 120 that I powered with an ASP 1.08 and covered with Sig Koverall and a painted finish. It was a very good airplane that built much like a smaller plane. The flight characteristics were fine - actually much like a 4 Star. Excellent elavator response, but the ailerons were a bit slow for my tastes. My only complaints regarding the kit involved the landing gear. The wire was very draggy and the plane would have been much better served with a suitable dural blank. Also the plans called for a skid in back however that was quickly changed to a Sullivan tailwheel assembly. I ended up selling mine to make room for other projects.
