I won't sheet the top untill I join the wings together, this way I have something to grip.

RE: Bridi Killer Chaos Build Thread
Right wing panel is built, no photos due to it's a mirror image of the left wing, it's a bummer that this kit doesn't include a dihedral brace, I hope that by joining the 2 wings with epoxy and fiberglass will make it strong enough. I should have a photo by tomorrow on the wing joining.

Joe,
I've built several and seen many and never a seperation at that joint. I have foound that I like finishing epoxy instead of fiberglass when filling the fiberglass cloth. Doesn't smell as bad and the slow curing means it penetrates the wood more than a quicker setting fiberglass resin.

Some updates. I installed the center section of the wing, this is where you put the dowel and the hardwood leading edge and drill out for the aileron extention, not showing in the photo.

Sheeting in place, and it's looking like a wing, the next step is to install is the servo tray and wing tips. May be a while before I post again, I'm heading to the beach next week.

RE: Bridi Killer Chaos Build Thread
I must admit that this thread is causing a lot of second thoughts.
I've been thinking of ordering a Bridi Killer for a while.Have heard what great fliers the Bridi kits are.Except for the instructions.
Now I'm seeing words like Termite eaten wood,Wood that is cut the wrong length. This don't sound like quality to me and dont' know if I want to go there or not.I don't need the aggravation.
What's up on the termite thing. Is it worth the aggravation???
Thanx
Walt

Q-Ball be advise that this is and old kit, the newer versions should be much better in quality. Despite the shortcomings, it's turning out pretty good, I just used a bit of my building experience and make it work.

ED, the wing tips will be hollowed out, but I'll save it for later in the build, I going to start the rear horizontal and vertical stab. Joe

Rear horizontal stab in the rough, I'm not sure if I want to use the dowel for a elevator tork rod, it seems like it will be a pain in the rear just to install, can I make one out of somthing or can I but this?

Joe,
I've had good luck using the dowel. Just use a good mix of 30 min epoxy.
When I cut the elevators to accept the dowel, I also round out the mating surface to provide a little more contact area to the dowel. Sandpaper on the dowel works for me.
Best of luck with the build.

A quick update, rear vertical is built in the rough, I'm mocking up the fuse just to see how things should fit, see the photos, I'm building all the major components first and I will worry about the small stuff later, like sanding and hinges, etc, etc.

RE: Bridi Killer Chaos Build Thread
I was pleasantly surprised to run across this thread and see that someone else is also building a Bridi Killer Chaos After losing my 19 year old Super Kaos last month [&o], I decided to build another one and it's on the bench right now. The left wing is nearly complete and I will be framing up the right wing soon. I've enclosed a picture of the left wing, but it's a little dated. Since the photo was taken, I've added the leading edge sheeting and shear webbing. In the photo, you can see where I temporarily used the aileron to level the wing during construction. The shear webbing dramatically increased the the torsional stiffness of the wing. I'll add some up to date photos soon.

Here's an up-to-date picture of the left wing. Next step is to install the paper tubing for the aileron extension cables and the outboard servo mounts. I'm considering making the inboard 1/3 section of the ailerons into flaps and mounting the flap servo in the center section of the wing.

Joe and Kaos,
Yall gonna be around for a while????????
I'm watching this thread closely.Havent' seen any @#$%^&* so far..LOL..I see your still trudgin' thru.
I'm still trying to decide if I want a Killer. As much bragging tht I've heard thru the years on the Bridi line, seems like he'd have better instructions and stuff, better wood and over all quality.
I still may do this if yall are going to be around for the flood of my questions...LOL
I've built many kits from slow stuff to blazing stuff so don't know why my feet are cool. It's just that the kits I've built have had good instructions and wood.....
Decisions/Decisions
Buy the way. What engine are you using.I'll use a Webra 50 if I get with it.Low power line but should move it pretty well.
Keep posting......I'm watching>>>>>
Thanx

Latest photos: installed aileron cable tube and the last of the balsa sheeting on the left wing. Photos also show part of the servo bay in the center section. I plan to mount a flap servo in the center section and two outboard servos, one for each aileron. In the background, you can see that I've started framing up the right wing. No *&%#@*@* yet. LOL!

I'll try to keep posting comments as I continue the build. This is my second Chaos (Kaos), but it's been 19 years since I built the first one.
As you've probably gathered, this is not a beginners kit. While it's not exacty difficult to build, care must be taken to avoid warps in the wing and a few little items must be custom made for your preferences, such as landing gear type. I chose conventional gear and I found that fabricating the plywood rib doublers to be a bit tricky. It took me a couple of tries to get a good fit.
The written portion of the plans are ok, but don't cover every last little detail. I think it is assumed that the builder is experienced. I found that the wings frame up quickly and are fairly easy to align. CA glue really helps for the intial setup of the ribs on the spars.
I decided to go for the optional outboard aileron servos and my kit lacks the extra hard wood servo rails for this. Also, I had to buy a sheet of 1/8" plywood to fabricate the rib doublers. Not a big deal, I guess. Also, I had to purchase some paper tubing for the aileron cable extensions.
I had a slightly modified Super Tigre G.61 in my last Kaos (a Super Kaos, actually) and it was a very good performer. The modifications included a long tuned muffer and Perry pump and carburetor. I plan to install a new Super Tigre G.90 in my new Killer Chaos, along with the mods. It should go like crazy!

Kaos,
I have a ST 75 in mine swinging a 12x7 (still breaking it in) and it has unlimited verticle and loads of speed down the runway passes.
A 90 --- OH MY GARSH!!!! [:-]

Did you have to do any mods to get it to fit in. How bout ground clearance. With the 90 and a bigger prop,I'm wondering how close the bigger prop will be to the ground.

Q-Ball
The Kaos my ST 75 sits in is a trike configuration and the prop is very close to the ground (1"). The engine fits fine with no serious nose modifications. I did have to slightly shave the nylon/composit mount. I think it was a Dubro, or Dave Brown. (I use both) [and before someone beats me to it -- no, not on the same plane.]

Think a ST 90 will fit in the nose of this thing.I have one of those too but figured the nose was too small without doing major mods.

Yes, the Super Tigre G.90 will fit. The G.90 and G.75 have exactly the same mounting foot print as the Super Tigre G61. The only external difference is that the G.75 and G.90 are slightly taller (about 1/8" and 1/4" respectively).
