Congratulations, one exceptionally sharp ultimate. You did a fantastic job. I'm sure your "helper" was in there giving you a hand. You are a lucky man. Enjoy them both.

RE: Goldberg Ultimate Biplane FINISHED!!!
Now that is not only different but very unique, good job. I just fitted the cowling to mine tonight, fun job for sure. Looks like you went with the same after market landing gear that I did, just couldn't bring myself to use that wire they give you. I saw the hatch on the bottom, is that for the battery??? I have a Saito 1.20 in the front and will I need to put the battey back there to get it to balance?[] I'll be running a 1500MaH in mine.

It looks great!! Mine is still in the box for now. It looks like you have a fiberglass cowl, did you buy that seperate or did it come with it? Mine is an older kit and has the 2 piece plastic cowl, it's gonna have to go!!! If it id aftermarket, let me know where you got it.
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks,
Jeff

IMaflyer,
Sharp looking Ultimate!! I love that checkerboard tail!
Can you give us some more detail on the plane. What engine did you use?
Did you make any modifications to the build? (apart from the aftermarket landing gear)

First class job! Well done!
Were the Coca Cola graphics purchased commercially, or did you design/make them yourself - and, if so, how did you do it?
regards

RE: Goldberg Ultimate Biplane FINISHED!!!
The hatch on the bottom of the fuselage is the bomb-bay! My buddy and I both built Ultimates (his is the pepsi plane) and flew them on Saturday. It was AWESOME! The cowl is the two-piece plastic one after about 6 layers of balsa filler and four coats of paint! GrnBrt, you'll be happy with the Saito 1.20. My buddy's is powered by that engine and it ROCKS! I am going to post a full build on this thread this week because I think everyone interested in the Goldberg bipe needs to be aware of some significant kit flaws. Not aerodynamically oriented, but build and instruction booklet oriented. The final outcome is one pretty plane that is immensly satisfying to fly, very stable and yet ready to rock when you are. I trained on a Tiger 60 and a Four-star 40, regularly fly a 40-size trainer, and this airplane is the easiest airplane I've ever landed by far!!! (Well, I guess an exception would be my high-wing trainer with floats on, in which case it's more a "plop" than a landing! ) Thanks for your encouragement, gentlemen. It SURE did feel good to see her get into the air after all this tinkering! Here's some of the details of the build in brief:
Powered by a Magnum 1.20 four-stroke, swinging a 15x8 prop for break-in. I'm considering a 16x8 for my next flights.
After market aluminum landing gear mounted with black nylon bolts (in the event of a hard landing, the bolts will shear off and not take the mounting block with them like steel bolts will!)
You can't see it, but one of my little additions is an onboard battery monitor in the cockpit (I don't have a pilot...yet) Since the cockpit floor and the monitor surface are both black and I mounted the monitor flush with the floor, all you see is the little LED's. It's pretty cool.
I made an exhaust deflector out of brass tubing and a hose clamp
Dual aileron servos, connected to a y-adapter to the aileron channel, home-made servo hatches
high-torque servos for elevator and rudder
Controlled by a Futaba T6XH computer radio (with the both dual rates set to the aileron switch)
One bomb-bay for my little parachute guys. (run by the gear switch)
Covered in Red, white and black Monokote
Checkerboard is black monokote checks 'windexed' onto white covering
Stripes are striping tape and automotive striping tape.
Decals are custom done in Photoshop, printed on white and clear decal paper from www.kustomrides.com (the best price anywhere), and then clear-coated with Ultracote spray paint
Bottom graphics are hand-cut Monokote 'windexed' onto black Monokote with the exeption of 'Jesus Christ', which is also a decal.
