Astro Hog questions
Hey all... any vets of the Astro Hog? (should have a few hundred or so...) Just for sentimentality, I'm doing one. So I don't have to buy another engine, I'm planning on a Saito 80. I know it's more power than you need, but I think it'll sound great and fly well at half throttle. Now for the questions... If anyone has put this size/weight engine on an Astro, can I reasonably expect to be shifting my radio back pretty far, or running a servo from the tail? I'm guessing with a .60 2 stroke, the radio was right around CG. Also, anyone ever stuck a 4C in sideways? This way I can run the plumbing within reason and have a little room for the throttle cable. (Saitos are great engines but the logistics of installation are a bear, at best...) I welcome all suggestions/mods and pics from you guys who've been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt.
Here's a pic of my beloved Hog-bipe.

RE: Astro Hog questions
You will love the 80 on it. I have a Magnum 4 stroke 80 on mine and it flies great with it. You can fly all day at half throttle or less and those slow fly-bys sound awesome. I don't remember having any problems with the balance of mine, just shifting the battery was enough. I put 3 flights on my Hog today and it just keeps flying better all the time, mine is a tail dragger and it works well in that configuration.

That is out of this world! Where'd you get those graphics? nice job on the canopy, too. I was thinking about side mounting my Saito and enclosing the top of the engine compartment...maybe even putting a dummy cyl on the left side. Once again, nice, nice job. Hats off!

RE: Astro Hog questions
Sence,
I'm currently building a Hog. I tossed around the idea
of a Saito 82 or a K&B 61 nib from the 80's. The K&B
won out. (Money thing) Go with the Saito if you already
have it. JMO
