Hi. Thanks everybody.
I NEED FUSELAGE PLAN for sure. Of course if it's possible to have the templates too it's something more

No problem. I will scan the plans and the templates, then you can sort through what you need.

Being computer stupid I have to ask. Can you put that in a PDF and post it on this thread for anyone in need in the future?? Just wondering.

Well fella's, the print shop said they could not scan the templates and the plans because i had taped the templates to another sheet a paper, they were concerned that all of the tape would ruin the templates or damage their machine. They did scan the instruction book if any one needs that, let me know. Sorry, not the outcome we were hoping for.

They were last time I looked. Been a while but I think they are at Great Planes?? I think I had also once copied the instructions there too?
That mind of mine that I say is like a steel trap has gotten dented and rusted??

I’m glad this tread is still going. I made my maiden flight … well, I remember the movie Titanic had just started showing.
I still have the YS 120SF for power, fiberglass cowl of course, and aluminum LG. No major repairs, but had to re-cover. UV and heat is hard on Monokote.
And it’s STILL the best flying plane I’ve had.

Hi Britflier. Thank you for your update. Did you buy fiberglass cowl from "Fiberglass Specialties"?
Just in case...dou have fuse's plan? Could you scan it and send?
Thank you

Glad that your maiden flight went well but considering the fact that you were flying a Goldberg Extra that was almost a given....lol.

Hi Unodinoi,
Yes the cowl was from Fiberglass Specialities.
I haven't seen my plans for the last few years. Sorry

Hi Guys,

Trying to give this important thread some life! I won an Ebay bid and will soon be the proud owner of another CG extra kit!! My goal is provide my 20-year old Extra a brother. I am not sure the status concerning the availability of templates for this kit (I know people over the years have mentioned that they have copies, etc), but I would be happy to give it a shot to produce them as well. Is it best to trace all parts the old fashion way, or is there now a more efficient high tech method? Would directly scanning parts such as ribs work (perhaps by first darkening the edges with a black marker? Ultimately, I would like make these digitally to pass out.

I hope all of your Extras are still flying and in one piece!!!

I have scanned parts for people and sometimes they come out great with good lines, sometimes not so good?I did use a marker to make templates of a HOTS for a member and had them in a file, that worked. Give it a try, that would be great to have them on file to hunt mail out to people. I mailed out the builders plans for the Howard Pete right here on rcu once.

I moved back to Calif. And haven't gotten a place to fly yet and I'm not set up to build so no longer post very often on rcu. The CG Extra is a special plane to me so I'm still logged onto this thread.I did start hunting again though and I'm cleaning up the property, cutting a lot of dead trees. Once it rains a few times I have weeks of burning to do then more chain saw work. Life in the country!

Well, that explains it. Thought something bad happened, Oh Wait, it did, you moved to THAT state! Glad to hear it, somewhat.

Yep, hate the state, love where I live.
I also got tired of seeing the same questions year after year. I would have screamed if I saw the what size prop question again!😆😆😉😉

Scott,
The best method i have come up with is just the good old traditional one of tracing the parts. I use a sharp drafting pencil and 36" bond paper. After the parts are traced you can take it to a local PIP printer and they can scan it to a pdf file for a very minimal cost. P.S. I get a length of bond paper from PIP too when needed.

OK Guys, I have to make new wing struts, mine didn't have them. I have a template that was posted but not to scale, so "winged" it.

What you think?

All,

Building season is upon us in upstate NY as the weather is turning and the election over. I have decided to add to this thread and post my build of the Carl Goldberg Extra 300 and associated modifications to keep it alive. I will post pictures tonight and clear off the work bench in order to begin building.

Great kit and great flying plane. I had one years ago with an OS 1.08 2s. I did do glass cowl and after market aluminum gear that a company was making.

will be watching the build
