4 Star 40 Landing Gear
Hello Everyone,
For those of you that have built the 4 Star 40 and used Nylon Screws to hold on the Landing Gear, what configuration did you use ? did you use a couple of regular Nylon Wing Bolts, or did you use something somewhat different ?
Thank You Kindly,
waynerr

RE: 4 Star 40 Landing Gear
I just used the regular nylon wing bolt.
But I like wheel pants so I went back to the steel screws.
The pants or wheels gets sholve into the sheeting if the nylons decides
to go.
Fix the wing or fix the mount.
I reinforce the mount block or used ply or hard wood instead of tri stock.
and expoxy the heck out of it.
I also didn't glue the front bottom piece fule tank cover and made it a hatch.
It is also if the mount decides to go, it would be much easier to repair or access.
My landings has gotten better over time of course.
But had a bunch hard landings. The gears mount breakage wasn't a problem
anymore.

leftnut,
Good point, fix the wing, or fix the mount. I hadn't considered that. I will have to re-think.
Thank You for your thoughts and ideas,

I use nylon screws of the size of the steel screws. they hold just fine. I land on grass and haven't had to replace them but once and the screws should have ripped out then. I've never had it dig into my wing either

csdawggie,
Thank You for your reply. It is good for other ideas. It is a re-think. I have not decided on Nylon, or Metal yet. Both sides are welcome.
Thank You again,
waynerr
