Default B-25 Mitchell Kit?

Anyone now of a company who makes a b-25 kit with a built up wing? Never messed with foam and I would be a little worried to have that much money flying around on wings made out of packing material. Thanks, Gene

Royal and or Maruka makes a twin 40 size B-25 kit. I am being told that the company has gone out of bussiness, however they do appear for sale here on RCU and on other auction sites. There are also plans available for a sizes of the B-25. Good Luck, Dave

Hey thanks for the reply. I had looked at Wig Mfg. and saw that they used foam for the wing. The foam might work okay, but I have never worked with it and I don't have the tools to for it. I did a little research on the internet and found that Nick Ziroli has two different size plans for the B-25 and I was thinking I could go that way and have the kit cut. Is this the way to go? I have read good things about Ziroli's products. Thanks Gene

There are quite a few Ziroli B-25s that show up on the contest circut. As for kit cutters, I have never used one so I am not sure of the value or convience of the service. Good Luck, Dave

Foam is absolutely easy, and needs no special tools. It's incredibly strong too. Check out the Tips on Bayou Boys RC site.

In the "airframe" section they detail building with foam, with lots of pics and good details.
Don't skip over foam just because you have not tried it. Leaves out a lot great kit's in future.

Foam is easy, glue on the sheeting, cut out controls.
alot of planes use this. Jets to large planes.
Alsto try american eagle models. they have a large b-25 that I've been pondering myself.
i already have their b17.

As mentioned earlier, don't let foam scare you. It's strong, light and very easy to work with. Good luck.

Wow! That is quite a difference in price compared to $600 at Aeroplane Works affiliated with Ziroli on his website. The other two cutters affiliated with Ziroli won't even list prices on their own websites, Precision Kit Cutters and All American Kit Cutters. Did Lazer larry's include all wood needed to complete the kit or just the laser cut parts? Thanks, Gene

Laser Lizard provides the laser cut parts; you provide the sheeting, sticks, and blocks. Depending on what balsa stock you have or where you shop, the savings can be significant.

I figured that was the reason. I guess I will have to shop around for all the materials I need before I decide which way to go. Thanks for the info. Gene

I should be getting my Royal B-25 back from my builder this weekend - ready for painting. I will post pics when I do. FYI - bought the kit in 1988 - just getting around to building it.

I'm going to wait until my building skills are up to par and until then it's build, build, build (as long as the wallet we allow it anyway). Of course I might be retired by then (24years to go).
