Here's one more photo I found recently on the internet. Photos of real SR-6's are few and far between!

Kiwibrian,

Did you complete this kit? I just read your post and am trying to get one of these kits. I'm just wondering how it came out.

Thanks.

Hey, I have the plans and a full float kit to this plane. Roberts made a DGA float set that's the same used on the SR6. I'd sell the float set if you're interested. Side note... It's been more than 10 years since I posted about the builder of the sr6 on the cover of the 88' RCM. He's still alive and well AND now I have the plane in my shop. I'll post pics so all can see .
Thanks,

While browsing for info on the SR6 I found this thread. I just purchased a complete J.Roberts kit and will be looking forward to the build.
I just finished a Howard DGA-15 (below) , and was looking for another golden age cabin plane that was unique in some manner. The straight wing of the SR6 qualifies.
(I am sure that I will replace the cardstock areas with strip planking or wetted balsa sheet.)
It will be a project for next winter.

Hey, I know this is an old thread but I wanted to let everyone see the project I'm working on. This is the Roberts Stinson SR6 that's pictured on the cover of the July 1988 issue of RCM.

The airplane is getting a facelift! I'm redesigning the landing gear to spring and function just like the full scale airplane. I'm also building moulds and fiberglass parts for the fairings.

Ill update when when I make more progress!

Wow, it looks like the plane has held up well. What is it covered with?

Yeah, it's held up pretty well! It's covered in solartex and painted with K&B poxy. Because you can't get that paint anymore, I'll be using KlassKote.

I got some fairing work done today. Got them sanded to fit the fuselage and actually had time to get them mounted as well!

Default Stinson Reliant SR-6

i just purchased a Stinson SR-6 kit by Roberts/G-S Products Corp. Int’l. I should receive it hopefully by the end of the week. I am heartened to see this thread dates back to 2002 and as recent as 2016. Are any of you folks still connecting with one another regarding this model? This will be my first build and judging from the thread dialog, i’ll need some guidance.

Regards,
Randy

Hi all.
I purchased Top Flite Stinson Reliant second hand. I have two engines in my workshop. Roto 35 and Roto 25. Which one would be better choice for the sunday flights?

Maybe itīs too late for a scale cockpit, but not too late for dummy engine. Yestarday I took it out from mold. Paint job is almost done. Tomorrow Iīm going to

add the pushrods.

Hi Craig, I don't know if you still hang out on this site but I was wondering how the fairings and landing gear worked out. I have this kit and am thinking it will be my winter build. The fairings are pretty thick plastic and I'm thinking that they could be built lighter in fiberglass.

Hey! Yeah I still come here to hang out on occasion. The Stinson isn't finished but I do have it further along.

i haven't weighed the plastic fairings vs fiberglass but I'm sure they're lighter. If you decide to build the plane, I'd pay particular attention to reducing weight all through the build.

Here are a few more pictures of the work I've done on mine. Let me know if I can help in any way.

These pictures are the latest on my project. My Stinson has kind of turned into a side project so I'm not consistently working on it right now.

Craig, thanks for responding. The pictures are helpful. I particularly like the fairings between the gear leg and the wheel pant. For me , the build is a matter of when not if. I've been enamored of this model ever since I saw the article on it in RCSB. It must have been an expensive kit to produce with the bits of custom shaped wood. It really was a top shelf kit. I probably won't do a build thread but I will post up some photos as I go along.

I had to cut off the engine mounting box, because it was made for DLE 30. Before I make the new one for Roto I found the axis.

Default Top Flite Stinson Reliant Electric Conversion Build

I've started a thread on the above, yours looks a similar size? My thread is here-
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/e-fl...n-reliant.html
My subject is actually an SR8 still flying in Australia. I've managed to gather 60+ images & 3 video's & a guy in the US has done the same build electrified with a step by step build with pictures. My subject is below.

Stinson Reliant SR8 still in use in Australia.

Yes, thatīs the same Top Flite kit. I will use gas engine, so I would keep this thread. But the yours would be helpful, because I purchased it from second hand so I donīt know a much about kit construction.
