Default putting composite plane on a diet

Thought this question would fit best here.

I have a composite (fiberglass) Cap 20L. It is a pretty heavy plane- around 18+ lbs. It's a 81" wing span.

How could/ would you go about lightening this up? Is there a safe way to take some of the "structure" out of the fuselage?

Thanks for any input.

Mike
