A Shrike is born
WAAAAAAAA!
Well here it is. I still have 2 more servos to install and it still needs to be balanced but its close enough for pictures. The engine is a Super Tigre GS-40 and its covered in Ultracote Red,Yellow and Cabon Fiber. The building went fast, the laser cutting is great but the plans and instructions are pretty poor. Total time building is somewhere in the 40-50 hour range. Its 1 piece shape made covering a pain which accounted for nearly half of the build time. There are a few suggestions I would like to make for anyone else wanting to build this kit: The spruce main spars are all 1 piece so make sure the are as wrap free as possible. I replaced all of my spruce spars with perfectly straight ones from the LHS. Cover the tails first before glueing them on (which is what the instructions tell you) I glued mine on first which made covering a pain. Drill a 1/8 hole through all the wing ribs and wing tip on one side so you can run your antenae throught an nyrod and out your wing tip. There is not other good place to run your antenae I will have to run mine out of the bottom of the fuse but it won't be as clean as running it throught the wing. I Sheeted the stabilizer with 1/32 sheeting top and bottom which alowed it to blend into the wing much better than it would have if I would have just left it open.
