I just got a new one, put it on testbed and it is a different story. Easy start with hand, unable to stop it guess i was unlucky with previous engine ..

the plane has to be cursed took it for a spin yesterday, got 9,5 minutes in the air BECAUSE due to low temp a servo link to the throttle broke so that only 75% - 100% throttle was setable. So I had to fly the tank out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQirCashbkQ&t=0s I also had some issues on start due to linkage on the rudder, I wasnt able to give full right, but only 25%

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB6OkE8eps0&t=266s But in the air it is perfect

So officially, this is the 8th flight and 0 normal landings

Put floats on it so you can belly land. Kill the engine just before touchdown, and slide er in. No worries!

Take your victories where they appear.....you have an engine that runs for 10 minutes without quitting and it looked like it idled nice too. I agree the plane flies like a dream but there is a learning curve for takeoff and landing even when everything works.

I thought it was pretty smart of you to leave the gear up and slide it in on the frost. I put the gear down on my last deadstick and that is how I busted up the wing.

Hang in there, I think I have chased out my gremlins and I'm sure we will get a video of a smooth landing from you one of these days.

this engine is a new one, this one doesnt have the issues of the previous one with broken bearings, runs perfect even while the temperature was around freezing point. I just had to start it on the back.

I've already made a few tries with gear down and all of them were quite destructive for the wing and while this was a planned "emergency" landing, I chose to keep it up, because the ten second for deployment were something I wasn't planning to count in. I had enough worries to keep the speed high enough not to stall.

If the engine would run I would use flaps and gear. I had also trouble with the servo for rudder, it was somehow beaten by the freeze, I got full left and only a quarter to right, that was for me enough to fly it - hard for the takeoff though. But another factor for choosing safe belly landing ...

So where is the build thread my fine Czech friend? Nevermind, I tried using the scroll wheel and found it. Did I mention I'm fighting a bad cold and not firing on all cylinders?

I enjoyed the article and your English is fine. Do you live in Prague or one of the outlying city's mentioned in the article?

Don't feel bad I'm a native speaker and my English skills aren't much better! I have a bad cold a "gift" from my grandson that goes to daycare. He brings everything home the other kids get! I loved the blog! I see a lot of humor in it and it very much sounds like the big cities I have visited in the USA. My oldest son lives in Chicago now but he spent 15 years living in Europe mostly in Germany. He met his wife there she is from Poland. They would agree with the blogger on the Czechs making the best beer. I have tried it and agree but the Polish beer is close and more obtainable over here. Prague sounds a lot like New York City, a great place to visit and play but you wouldn't want to live and work there permanently. I think I would enjoy visiting Prague and the Czech Republic outside of Prague but I would have to have a friend along that spoke Czech.

it ain't a problem; there are like no distances in here - i live outside of prague, which is in the middle of the country, I am pretty much on borders and thats only 60 miles from prague. we have a nice model airstrip in here so if you come by, dont be shy to call me; i will take you there and i can get a plane to fly in there for you

Wow, lives in Chicago. Woof, I lived there 21 years and fled. I don't ever want to go back there if I don't have to. Hope he has a vest too. I thought it was bad when I lived there, though I did learn how to fight. I found that being a skinny white dude in a PR neighborhood, you learned to act a little CrAzY to be left alone. Grew up around the Logan Square area.

Great, thanks guys. It should be ready for flight this weekend but it looks like the weather will make the maiden be pushed back for another week or two.

Got the same problem here in Vegas. Aggravating when it is nice all week and then when the weekend comes the wind picks up and makes it impossible to fly. No problem for the Retirees but us working stiffs are getting gypped out of any chance to fly.

As far as CG....I set mine exactly as the manual said and it worked great. Get ready to be WOW'd. I actually said that out loud during my Maiden Flight.
