OS FS70 Surpass with 4*60?
I have been out of the hobby for many years. I have not flown since 1987 but with a little help the first flight or so, I don't think I would have any problem building or flying the four star. I have a 7 year old (new in the box) OS FS70 Surpass four stroke engine. This is near the bottom of the recommended engines for the 4*60. Will it provide enough power? Also, Can the wing be easily removed for transportation to and from the field? Thanks in advance for your help.

The FS70 will be just perfect unless you want to overpower your plane. The weight of the engine is perfect, no ballast will be needed.
I have the same engine in another plane and the same plane with another engine. I think FS70 will be plenty since the 4*60 is very light for its size. I think the APC 14x6 prop would be good for that combo.
The wing is attached with two nylon bolts. It is very easy to transport.

RE: OS FS70 Surpass with 4*60?
I think 14x6 is a lot of prop on a 70 4s engine. I use a 13x6 on my OS 70 Surpass and a 14x6 on my OS 91 Surpass as well as on my 91 Magnum 4s. All of my 4s engines are tuned to aprox 9k on the ground. The fuel I use is 10% nitro. all synthetic oil.
I fly an Astro Hog with the OS 91 and my brother flies an Astro Hog with an OS 70. His has plenty of power and mine will fly straight up.
The 4 Star 60 is similar to the Astro Hog so I think the OS 70 should work fine. The plane should have a very good climb rate, just not straight up but with plenty of power to pull through the top of big loops.
I would recommend running the engine with a 13x6 prop, if it runs like the 2 OS 70's I have personal experience with it will turn about 9k on the ground, this is with 10% nitro fuel. This RPM is not the maxed out RPM, the needle is backed off so the engine will not overheat.
Good luck,
Charlie
