US40, building again!
Hey all, first post in awhile. I've kinda been outta hobby for a few years, but I just got stationed down in Pensacola awaiting flight school, and have lots of time on my hands waiting for class to start, so I started building my Ultra Sport 40 kit that I've had sitting around for 10 years now!!
Ultra Sport .40, OS .46 AX, JR Radio. Conventional gear, 1 aileron servo, painted canopy. Maybe go to a tuned pipe later. Love the speed :-)
Started on it Friday morning, and I'm making great progress so far. Here are some pics.
also, first time to a hobby shop last week. There was not a single kit in the store...all ARF's...is that the case at the fields now? Is everyone flying ARF's? Hopefully people are still building...it's so fun!

RE: US40, building again!
Ok, I'm pretty far along in building it now, but I am starting to doubt my decision to use only one aileron servo. With the OS .46 AX engine, I'm guessing this plane is gonna be fast. I am considering retrofitting dual aileron servos and cutting out the hardware for the single servo setup. Any reccomendations here? Also to anyone that has done dual servos, where is a good place to mount them, and a solid method.
When I was at the decision point, I considered the pro/cons for awhile, now I'm starting to think that anti-flutter mods might offset the few extra ounces.
Thanks.

Looking good. I rebuilt mine after I smashed it up pretty good about 12 years ago. I've got a Fox 50 in mine. Flys ok. I think the CG is a little off. Will rebalance. I am only using one aileron servo, but I would go with two if you want. Are you building the trike or tail dragger?

I'm building it as a taildragger, I think they just look better that way. And your covering job is awesome. I like the yellow. I'm still contemplating the dual setup. I wish I had done it to start with, now my debate is whether or not it is worth the work to build it in there. Also, still haven't come up with a good way to mount them...gonna haveta brainstorm a little.
