Great Planes Shoestring
I have just purchased a GP Shoestring racer. I was curious if anyone out there has done likewise and has any building or flying experiences they may wish to share. I also purchased the plans that were in the Oct issue of MAN "Yellowjacket Shoestring" but do not have that much experience in scratch building so I am taking this route for now. Any info would be helpful.

RE: Great Planes Shoestring
To the author's credit/discredit - I stumbled across the original posting of his thread - which was in the AMA discussions forum for some reason. I'm still not sure why the moderator moved it to here.
To answer the question - the GP Shoestring is a great flyer - I wouldn't call it a second plane - I have a Mag 91 4stroke in mine, it's fast - friend of mine has one with a Saito 100 and it's even faster. Plane is agile, and tracks very true. It's a plane that doesn't bleed off much speed on landing, so make sure your engine idles down good and low when you line up on final.

You may not want to now, but someday you may decide to try your hand at building. If you ever decide you want to build a "string", you may want to check out the Plans offered through RCM of the Old Carl Goldberg .40 size Shoestring Racer. It used to be offered as a kit, but that was a long time ago, and you would have a very tough time finding one I would bet. We have a guy at the field who actually found the kit not to long ago in some Hobby Shop somewhere, and he built it. It is a great looking Plane. The Great Planes 1/4 Scale Shoestring ARF one looks good to, but I sure would like to build that little 40 size Goldberg Shoestring!

Tim...It's been a few weeks since you posted, so hows it coming? Here's a pic of mine that I've had for about 4 years now. It's got a .60 FX and flies great. Adrenalinejunky isn't kidding about it not bleeding off much speed for landing. At first I thought it was nose heavy but moving the CG back didn't help, I've just gotten used to long approaches with fast landings.
