TF P-39 Construction
I had this in another thread with no luck, so I will try here.
I will be rolling out my Unionville Otter in the next month or so,and I keep tripping over this box on the floor, so I better build it and hang it up out of harms way.
I have done a couple of searches on the TF P-39 in here and have had no luck in finding out any construction tips for this bird. I imagine it goes together the same as the other Gold Box TF kits. Anything to watch out for here? I have found a set of Rom Air Retracts to fit it. Any good, and where can parts be found for these guys. I plan on an OS 61 FX for power.
Thanks

TF P-39 Construction
We have a few GE P-39's at our field all with Robart retracts. I'm always amazed how they get retracts, fuel tank, linkage (engine & retract) fuel line etc. in that pointed front end. One P-39 at our field is a retract tail dragger (claims there were some made that way, no one argues). I fly the TF (red box) P-51B Mustang and if I recall, all the red box TF stand-off scales were smaller that their counterpart GE planes. My one recomender might be to install a 8 oz tank to free up some room. I always wanted to build a P-39 or 63 but was hoping someone would come out with a 80" wing span kit so the nose wouldn't be so congested. Good Luck!!!!

There actually was a taildragger version of the P-39 built for the Navy called the Airabonita (I'm not making this up ). It was a taildragger but was quite different from the P-39.
Ramcharger, I have a set of plans for an 82 inch P-39, and the nose is still crammed with stuff!
