Der Stick,
Your hog looks pretty nice. Can't beat them if you're looking for some fun sunday sport flying. Plus, they look more realistic too.
imsofaman,
I'll bet you're happier with the 91 4 stroke on it than the 61 you had on yours. I have a 91 surpass on mine also, even though I tried an os 61 (it flew ok with that) and also an os 70 surpass (about the same power as the 61 but sounded better).
I'm still flying mine and enjoying it everytime.

Yeah Dan....I flew mine a couple weeks ago and id does sound great with the four stroke. It is such a comfortable plane to fly. No bad tendancies and just float along. I do just mile aerobatics with her. I want to keep it around for a while so I take it easy on her.
I may go up a notch with my pitch. The role rate slowed up as I dropped pitch. The 3D influence kind of got to me and I put on a prop with low pitch. I now realize I have to have more pitch for more airspeed to increase my roll rate. Live and learn.

RE: Sig Astro Hog "Engine recomendations
I have two astro hogs. Both are sig kits. One built from the kit. The other I got at a swap meet. Both are great flyers. One has an 80 Magnum 4 stroke and the other a 65 satio. Lots of power on both planes! The one with the 80 is lighter then the on with the 65 but I fly both on half power or less most of the time I had a 60 2 stroke on one for a while but I had problems with it run inverted because one has a cowl. The 4 stroke has more vertical power but the two stroke had more speed fly’s better with a 4 stroke and sounds better too. Now I am building an 80% hog with electric power 25 size. Sig fuse with a Berkeley .wing. if you want I can let you guys know how the build goes? I shrunk the plans down on a photo copier. That was a mistake because when you tape the pieces together the plans tend to be off a little bit! And that affects your build.

I've ran a K&B .65 on mine ever since that engine was first introduced. It is a perfect match for the Astro hog. I see them for sale all the time at swap meets.

In my video on the previous page....I too ran the K&B and it flew great, I was able to go vertical ith that K&B. I am a four stroke fan and love the sound of them. I am going to clean mine up and put in a oil soaked plastic bag as a back up engine if my OS91FS ever fails. As a matter of fact....I should do some maintenance on the old girl and get ready for this season.

Is this a Astro Hog? It has a 56" wing and is 38" from the back of rudder to front of fuselage. It has a Saito FA-45 four stroke and an old Airtronics am radio. The batteries said 'gharged 1990"
It was given to me . After a good charge everything worked fine. It flew great.

Hello,
Mine flyes with a Ys 63 and a 13-6, is more than enough power for my astro, it takes off at 60% throttle, and flies on 50% loops can so long as you want. Is an incredible plane to fly, capable of many aerobatics and and also low fly speed. I have another kit in the box, if somethig happens, I hope not!!
People in my club ask "what´s that plane????", here only few people build and there is an invasion of extras and many more arf´s, and nobody knows the astro.
I add a pic.

Hopefully here's a picture of my Hog, haven't posted a pic in a long time not sure I did it right, anyhow it has an OS FS70 with a 12/6 I think. I fly it around at less than 50% throttle most of the time. I've been away from the hobby for about 1-1/2 years but anxious to get back into the air this spring. Weather looks great for tomorrow afternoon flying.
Wish me luck, thanks Kev

I think you have a Pilot Skyloop. I built one a number of years ago and powered it with an Enya 46. Good kit and a great flying airplane. Regards, NM

RE: Sig Astro Hog
My "Hog" is powered with a "Magnum .90" 4 stroke engine and it hauls the plane with more than enough power. .70 4-stroke IMO is enough power to satisfy most flyers.

RE: Sig Astro Hog
Ugo, I really liked your color scheme on your Hog upon completion of mine I could not come up with an improvement! My Hog is powered with A Saito 82 and controlled with a Spectrum. With this combination the balance was spot on, no ballast required. First flight was un eventful with only a few clicks of aileron trim needed.

Nice!
I'd like to invite you, and anyone else interested, to bring your new Astro Hog to the SPMRC Pattern Primer on May 12th. Bring your new airplane up and show her off!
The event is free and so is the food!
Will I see you and your Astro Hog?
Brian

You can find the sequence here... It is Classic Pattern- NO box. Call the maneuver and fly it one pass at a time.
We are focusing on Novice and Sportsman. A famous Team Futaba Member will be there from Chicago to help us do it right!
The Astro Hog would be a great addition to the flight line. And a Classic ship is not required. We only ask you keep the wingspan under 72 inches.
