Default .25 size kaos

Looking for planes for a .25 size Kaos or simular type pattern plane. This will be my first build, so nothing to hard.

new era 3 from rcm would be a good choice for a 25 size engine that builds and flys like a kaos.the sun-fli 4 -20 size kit was made by great planes and was staed as being a 20 size kaos in the building manual.

New Era III from RCM Plans sounds like what you are looking for--symmetrical airfoil, 46 inch span.

A different type is the Prince by Dave Robelen is available from AMA. It is larger and lighter, and uses a flat bottom airfoil, of all things. But Robelen has been designing models for a long time, so I wouldn't discount it. It would be easier to build and fly, but still very capable.

Both are for .25 engines.

If you've got a pretty strong .25 you could actually do the Jr. Kaos, as long as you keep it light. It was designed for a .40, but most 40s weren't as strong then, and radios were heavier. The size, 50 inch span, is not at all out of line for a good .25. Also from RCM Plans.

September 1988 issue of Model Aviation has the Sparrow:

It is a 25 sized pattern plane and the plans are there at MA as plan #595 for $11.25.

Hi,

The plane you are looking for is an Ace Super Pacer. The New Era flies well and the Sig Kobra is a bit twitchy.. especially under high g loads. The Super Pacer flies much better than either one and is a minature .25 sized pattern ship. Best motor is an OS 25 Fsr/abc... but I guess now that would be the OS 25 FX. The Pacer is all wood, simple as a beginneer's plane to build. Kits show up on ebay all the time plus there is an ARF called the "MAGIC" that is always on Ebay in .25 size. I still have a NIB kit that I plan to clone. Some old planes should not go away...

Want to clone one & sell to me? That Super Pacer was a great plane for me! I got the plane already built, at a garage sale ($15, I think.) Put a .25 FP in it, and had a blast. I was learning at the time, broke it in half about 3 times before I splintered it too bad to ressurect.

One thing that never broke was that tailwheel in the rudder. Nifty idea.

Dave,

I have given thought to "cloning" this plane but at present are really busy with my normal fiberglass/foam kits. I never say never... so.. If I do decide to make this one, I'll keep you in mind.

goplaneman, here is a website with free CAD drawn plans for the Super Pacer. I've actually downloaded them and reduced them to 90% - 41.4" - for an OS .15. I plan to start cutting parts this weekend. The plans have been run through the TilePrint software so they print out perfectly on letter size paper. They are in PDF format and very nice.
