Default Antenna Route 4 Star 60

For anyone that's built a four star, where did you route the antenna wire? I'm think of going out the side by the power switch and taping it down to the fuselage all the way back to the tail.

How much wire can you keep inside the fueslage? For example, what if I run it through the rear of the fuselage and bring it out toward the back some where? This will be kinda tricky though.

I strung it rather loosely at the front, with the receiver right at the leading edge and then down the fuse. Nothing is outside the fuse.

Does keeping the antenna totally inside the fuselage degrade the radio range? If not, how come so many planes have the antenna on the outside? Sure would look better and be less hassle on the inside.

Keep it as far away from metal push rods and wires. If you are using standard monokote or ultracote my understanding is that they won't interfere. Metallic finishes may interfere. I don't fly close in, especially with the YS91AC on the nose. It covers a lot of ground and goes vertical until I can't tell what it is doing. I have never had a hint of a radio problem. Of course that's with Hitec equipment. I don't know any other radio gear.
I do know of others that fly with the antenna inside and they have had no problems. Others stick it on outside right tight to the underside of the fuse.

Greetings Hoppy: Go ahead and put as much of it inside the fuse as you can, without bunching it up, or doubling it back on itself. Use an inner ny-rod as a sheath and run the ant. wire inside of it. I run all my ant. this way and have never had a problem. I normally do have some hanging out the back, because I tend to mount the receiver back behind the wing, because I have never seen the back end of a plane get demolished in a crash. I have the nickname I do for a reason. (getting better, didn't crash today.) But then I didn't fly today. Always glad to help if I can. Garry
