Default Super Sportster 40

I have a Super Sportster kit at my builders right now and is almost ready to cover. I had heard that Knife edge flight was not possible with the designed tail feathers so we re-designed the rudder(+2.5"" and elevator halves(+1.5"). The feathers are now a close copy of my 46 size world models cap 232 squared off not rounded. Any body tweaked there's in any special way to make it better. I would apperciate any suggestions before the monocote is unrolled.

I had one of the original SS 40's and it had plenty of rudder for knife edge. The problem it had though was roll couple caused by too much dihedral. I didn't have a radio with mixing so I had to learn to fly it with both sticks.

I also have an original SS 40, still flying after 13 years, its on its 2nd O/S 46 engine. I took about 1/2 of the dihedral out when I built it, if I remember (I know I took out some ). It will hold a level knife edge as long as you want with the stock tail. It is fast with this engine and I'm sure that helps.

This was the first kit I ever built. I built mine as per the plans and it flies great.

I am not sure how to pull off a knife edge - so I can't help you there!

Hey guys, I just finished my Super Sportster .40 last week. It was my first kit and is my second plane. I'll attach a pic but beware, it's also my first covering job

That's one of the great things about pictures. They hide flaws very well.

Whatever didn't come out to your satisfaction, I can't see anything wrong in the pictures. I think you did outstanding for your first covering job!

Thanks guys, it's true, pictures do hide alot of the flaws. So does being 100 feet up in the air.
