Default Quality of the new Bridi kits

I see that somebody has brought out the Bridi line of kits again. [link=http://www.bridiairplanes.com]Bridi Airplanes.[/link] . Does anybody know of the quality of these new kits?? I'm seriously considering picking up a couple of them if their good kits.

Thanks in advance

Ken

Ken,
I saw that Bridi kits were available again and bought an XLT, Killer Bee, Old Timer and Big Bee. This should keep me busy for a couple years. The quality of the kits are as to be expected. Very good. The Big Bee is a vintage kit so a little of the balsa needs replacing but overall I am happy. I would love to get the Bizzy Bee, a nice low wing giant.
Good luck and don't be shy, Joe Bridi did a great job designing these.

Hi Ken,

I found the company "Blue Jay" in the persona of Lynn Latta very good to deal with regarding shipping to Australia, (they split the kit into two boxes to save on costs) and the quality of the balsa excellent in the "Dirty Birdy" I built last year. If they are all like my sample you will be impressed with the value for money.

They are however builders kits, so enjoy.

Cheers,

Colin

Many Bridi kits are currently being sold on eb*y by Sheldons...you can catch them at good prices and very reasonable shipping. I picked up 2 Sun Fli's & a Dirty Birdi and might pick up a few others just to stash away.

Anyone have the plans for the 102 inch T-6 Bridi Kit? Also have a 1/5 Scale T-28 that needs a canopy to complete. Both are well along the way to being finished but still would be nice to have those items.

I wondered about that..

When I found out he was retiring, I bought 5 of his kits from him....including the Dirty Birdy 2x2...
Already had a Big Bee I've had for years..

Glad to hear that the quality has been kept up..
As kit building is slowly going by the wayside..[&o]

Default RE: Quality of the new Bridi kits

I have just finished building the Bridi Aircruiser 60 from Bluejay. The following is what I found with this kit.

The wood and parts fit are both very high quality, and the plan is very well drawn (it was drawn by Joe Bridi). Most parts are already cut and sanded (the ribs are really nice). Nothing is die crunched or laser cut, but the cutting and shaping that is left up to you is very simple.

Only very basic hardware that you need is provided, but I think that this is better than getting a lot of junk hardware or even good hardware that doesn't match your preferred way of doing things.

The instructions have no photos, but I find them well-written and clear.

I also have the Dirty Birdy kit from Bluejay. I have not started building it yet, but, as with the Aircruiser kit, the wood is of very high quality, the plan is very well drawn, the instructions are text-only but are well-written, and most parts are already cut and sanded.

I picked up an Escape, Vagabond (on the bench now) and Killer Chaos 60 from Sheldons on Ebay. I was going to start the Killer Chaos but it was missing half the manual (Bridi's fault not Sheldons) but I got it from a member here. Also got an Enya 60 FX I plan to put in the Killer Chaos 60.
