Default Sanding question

Building a Mirage 550 kit for my daughter.
One problem I've always had sanding a built up, open structure wing with cap strips etc. is trying to keep from snagging the edges of the balsa at the open bays.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!

Work with a long, narrow sanding block, moving across the wing, sanding several ribs at once. Move slowly. You can also slightly round off the edges of the block. That helps a lot.

I use a t-bar sander like this. They are available in eleven and twenty two in lengths. Just drag it carefully from front to back. You can either buy strips of sandpaper with adhesive applied or you can buy two inch sandpaper rolls and spray the paper and the bottom of the t-bar with contact cement and roll your own.

When you sand across junctions, like where the sheeting ends and the ribs start, always have your sanding block at a 45 degree angle so you're pulling it along. It won't snag on as many things. But it's good that you're snagging some things. If you don't, it means you aren't sanding it enough.
