Top Flite Contender Build - Flap Question
I just ordered a Top Flite Contender kit and expect to start in the next week or so, but I have a question about the flap set-up. I currently own a 4 channel radio, and do not expect to get another radio any time in the near future. My question is, can I build the plane with the flaps and just not use them until I get my next radio? Should I do the build without and is it easy to add them later?
If I can build with them, do I connect the servo, etc or somehow "lock" the flap in place until I get a different radio?
Any other tips, tricks, etc for the build are appreciated also.
Thanks
Jim

RE: Top Flite Contender Build - Flap Question
You will have to build the Flap so might as well install and build for it with extra servo. Lock the flap down by some method, perhaps install a second horn at servo mount and install a push rod to flap to hold it steady? There is instructions in the kit for not putting in a functioning flap.
Most of us modified the rudder shape, some did lightening holes in fuse tail, made ailerons bigger see the following post. Nearly everyone agrees to install nose gear mount with blind nuts not wood screws as specified in instructions. When building wing read the instructions. You start by NOT gluing in the spar pinned to building board. Myself and another glued the spar in and had to fix it later.
