What is your favorite kit building task?... your least favorite?
I have embarked on my 2nd kit. It is a 4* 120 and I can't wait to get to the radio and linkage installation. That is my favorite task in the building process!!!! My second favorite is fabrication of parts/ideas, that I think will help strength or appearance. I had a post out there about a cowl for this plane. I decided to do my own. I will post pictures in a few weeks. I actually used the original cheeks, turned the Saito on it's side, (after making the right cheek removable, and cutting out for engine cylinder etc.).... I then "filled in" the top area with a shaped block of balsa that is also removable. Sanding stuff in general, is my least favorite. Although I do like filling dents with spackle and smoothing them out. (weird aren't I ??) .... lownslo

Lownslo, I'm in the middle of building a 4 star 120 too. So far got the wing done but not covered, and the stab done. Probably my 50th kit or so though.
My favorite parts are framing, & covering. Least favorite is sanding, mostly because of the dust not the sanding itself. Other part I dread is masking for trim paint and having it mess up.

My favorite step is opening the box, my least favorite is looking at all the pieces and knowing I have to put them where the belong.
Really my favorite is watching the parts take shape. My least favorie would be hinges, and glueing the tail feathers on.

I love the framing up of the plane and seeing it take shape but when it comes to covering I start to slow down and I come to an almost dead stop when it comes time to install the radio gear, EEWWWWW I hate installing radio gear!!!!!!

Fav Doing some way complex thing on the model and the feeling that comes when it all works out right. Recent example, redesigning the fuce on my Hog bipe.
Least fav The stuff that is supposed to be simple but turns into a nightmare! Recent example, changing the OS FP 25 to an OS SX 32 in my Corsair II. All I had to do was to widen the rails a little and drill 4 little holes. Damn drill bit went in then decided to slide out at a 45` angle to the rail thus hogging out a huge gash. By the time this was over I has to carve out a shelf in the rails to hold some 1/4" oak mounts with blind nuts then epoxy it all in wile not changing the trust setting or spacing on the engine or gluing the engine to the plane. At the last second before I did this I though I'd had better put some kind of grease on the bottom of the engine. Only thing I had was some butter in the fridge. Good thing I did because some epoxy decided to creep up hill to the engine and got all over the bottom. When I pulled the engine out I had a perfect mold of the bottom of the engine! Yes I had to Moto-tool all that crap out to. So the simple task of just drilling four holes took me a week to do.

Favorite; opening a new kit, and taking a bit whiff, then speading it all out, and looking at what I've gotten myself into.
Least favorite; hooking up radio stuff.

Favorite: Framing, mounting engine, hinges
Least Favorite: COVERING and installing radio gear.
I absolutely hate covering. I don't suck at it. I can do a pretty darn good job of covering. It's just so time consuming; and such tedious work. It seems like it takes just as long to cover a model as it does to do everything else.
