Sig Four Star 120 bashed to Me 109
Here are the pics of the 120's fuselage. Ryobi 31 with CH ignition, Gator RC retracts (or maybe Hangar 9 P-47's), Skyshark Rc canopy, cowling and decals, and custom spinner.
Still need to finish the cowl and exhausts, but things are starting to shape up.
Don't laugh too hard

Tail feathers almost complete. I have to add the strut braces. Motor mounted, and cowl primered.
I am waiting on the retracts to arrive, so I am doing everything I can to the fuselage.

I ordered the Gator RC Gold retracts for 120 sized airplanes. I was tired of waiting on the new Hangar 9 P 47 120 retracts. If they are too small, I'll use somethign else, or the stock gear. The Hanger 9 have struts and everything for about 89 bucks.

Wow...looks GREAT!! You have to add a Revi to that instrument panel, though...how's he going to knock down those Spits without a gunsight?? Looking forward to the wing/retract pics...and the maiden report!

Well, progress. Installed the motor, etc. Almost finished with the wing.
Shouldn't be too long now. I had to give up on retracts, as there would just be toooo much strengthening needed in the wing.

Hey Bill, one of the best bashes I've seen. Go for the retracts man! Let me know when you plan to fly it, maybe we can all have a pow wow.

Neat project. A friend of mine gave me a somewhat 'worn-out' pattern aircraft that I may turn into a 109G n a similar manner. I also turned a Great Planes Supersportster into a Kawasaki Ki-61. This "bashes" are a good way to get into sport-scale models.
Are you using monokote? I am amazed that the Ryobi gas engine fits into the SkyShark 109E cowl! Good work!

Hi Bill - That is just an awesome Bash of the 120. I think this is one kit that just begs for builders to use as the base for many planes. I happened to kit bash my 120 into an AirTractor 802F Single Engine Air Tanker I call the 'Fire Boss'. I can drop about 2 cups of slurry per run I'll bet you'll have a great flying bird. My only problem is it really wants to float on landings.

Wow, that airtractor is sweet! I was stationed in Mississipi in the Army, and that is exactly what they look like! Very cool! I saw them every day driving to work. Even got slimed once or twice.
Well folks, I am almost finished. I have to finish ailerons, add servos and balance. I'm getting there.

Hi Folks,
here's an update. I finally had a chance to get it all working and did the test flight.
I was running the Ryobi with a 17 X 6 prop, but I am trying the recommended 18 X 8 next. There is a big difference in the blade area, so it should be a noticable change.
Anyway, I flew it. It is definitely not overpowered (at least not with the 17 X 6). It flies very scale. I did a couple rolls, no loops yet.
The motor did not miss a beat. The CH ignition worked like a charm. Easy to prime, easy to start.
My observations:
I need a stronger landing gear, and maybe a little taller gear. If I ever have a hard bounce landing, I can probably kiss the prop goodbye. The plane is really easy to fly (of course, it is a four star 120). And, on a high speed flyby, it really does look like a 109 (don't look too close at he landing gear). I also need to incorporate some right thrust. It pulled hard to the left on takeoff just after it broke ground.
All in all I am happy with the outcome! I finally have my ME 109!
thanks
Bill

We got som egood video, so 'll try to post pics or a video. The cowl was off for the flight in order to tweak the needles, etc. I'll snap a photo or two tonight of the finished plane and post it.
